What do you guys use for suregrip additive? Also how much to you add to your gear lube? It has been about 12 years or so since I have swapped out a 3rd member. Going from a 410 locker to a 355 suregrip...

I use one container of the Ford friction modifier. It's about the best on the market.

You can also buy Royal Purple gear lube ! It is already in the oil ! But it is approx 25 bucks a quart !!! I do agree the Ford Racing friction modifier is really good stuff !! When I was working that’s all I kept in stock was the Ford Racing . Ford came out with a TSB years ago saying if you have a chattering problem in the rear end to use the Ford Racing Friction Modifier !!

With a cone type, I use the Valvoline pre mix. If clutch type Dana I would add the additive+ the Valvoline limited slip juice.

Mopar additive-
Is what I use. 4oz bottle from dealer is like $8.00. If you still get chattering after driving around and the rear gets up to temp- I add another bottle. Cone type rears like the one in my 741 case seem to need 2 bottles. I just use a good brand 80w90 gear oil. Napa or Castrol. If I don’t recognize the name I won’t use it. Never tried the oil that has it in the bottle already.

Pennzoil 4096, Gearplus 80W-90, now sold as Pennzoil Gear and Axle. Used and sold it since 1985. Limited slip additive already included in the formula. Never had a customer complaint about chattering, although probably more than half would have been used in open diffs. Wholesale price was pretty cheap, but retail markups can be very high. Yeah, $6.25/qt by the case of 12 on Amazon. $15.52 for a single quart.

Lucas also has a gear lube safe for sure-grips, I get mine at the local NAPA.

I found a full NOS bottle at a local antique mall, but I can not bring myself to use it.......
