Getting a second chance to live on 7/30/20

Roy, take care of you. I am really glad yall weren't hurt anymore than just what happened. Sorry about the truck. It was beautiful but it can be replaced. You and your grandson cannot.

I woke up loaded up my grandson Bucket Head And with my new dump trailer hooked up to my almost new 2018 Laramie Longhorn Crew Cab Cummins 4x4. We headed off to sell a load of scrap that had been sitting in my trailer since this past April 2020. Well the time at the metal place isn’t real clear, but apparently I unloaded it 3000lbs and I remember pulling out of their parking lot next thing I remember was sitting at a red light and complaining about the light not changing fast enough.
Next memory I have is waking up in ICU with someone telling me I had a heart attack and totaled my truck. I was alert enough to ask about my grandson. Apparently over and over, they told me he was fine. I just need to take a break and regroup. I was discharged yesterday to come home. I’m very confused so bear with me if I promised something that I haven’t delivered on. I’m going to take some time off and rehab. A while. Thanks for all the well wishers and prayers sent already. Roy
Dang Roy!! Get some rest buddy, take it slow & easy.

Wow! That is banged UP! Glad everyone will be good again and the grandson was not hurt! Hope they did not put you on the overflow Covid floor!!!

I'm sorry to hear about the heart attack but glad to hear you and your grandson are both ok, relatively speaking. If you need anythint let us know, if you were in Vegas I'd offer bring you dinner.

I'm glad you have the outlook on getting a second chance, its the same one I had. While I didnt have a heart attack, but I did have emergency heart surgery when I was 22, just 6 months after my son was born, and was back in the hospital 2x that year for complications. Take your time healing up, be strong, and enjoy every moment you have with the family.

There is no limit on how bad things can get !
Glad your still with the living.
GodSpeed.

Wishing you all the best for a full recovery. Always enjoy your posts and helpful input on this site so take time to get well. We''ll all be anxious to have you back when you're able.

Glad to hear you’re doing better Roy. Time to get well and put yourself first.

That was a serious crash on top of the cardiac event. It could have been worse.

Please keep us updated when you have the time and feel like it. We all want to know how you’re doing.

Get well soon Roy. I know you are somewhere around my age (63) and getting over a lick like that takes longer than it used to. I hate it got destroyed, but the Big Dodge did it's job protecting you and Buckethead. I'm certain the 2 of you will ride again another day. Take care, and take the time to heal up from the crash....and especially the heart attack.

Wow, Roy glad u survived not only the heart attack but the crash also. Glad ur grandson came out ok also. U guys are in my thoughts and prayers, as well as ur family and friends. Hoping for a speedy recovery. Kim

Glad you and your grandson are doing ok. You may not remember but I already paid you for a complete rebuilt 426 hemi. Get better then ship it.

Praise God for bringing you and your grandson through this. Take it easy and enjoy your family for awhile. Look forward to seeing you guys at the next Summit meet and greet.

I thought I would take a moment to update everyone. I’m feeling better everyday the worst part is the chest pain. From what I understand what I’m feeling it the result of the CPR. Even when done properly , it is normal to crack/break ribs. I know this from 33 years as a firefighter. This iis just the first time I’ve experienced from the receiving end. When I have to cough it is pure torture. But it beats the alternative. Thanks for all the calls and well wishes.

Glad you're healing...

Maybe think of naked women when you cough to distract you from the pain....

If that doesn't work, have someone kick you in the nuts....

My mother in law was in a bad accident last fall... She was in ICU for three months, broke all of the ribs on one side and a few on the other... I could see the pain in her face when we visited her and the nurses had to rotate her in the bed so she wasn't sitting on the same position for too long...

I know it's painful, stay tough...

I guess the best advice I can give you is try not to cough... (Captain Obvious....)

Holy Moly, welcome back to the mortals side. Glad to hear you’re pulling thru. Prayers to you Roy, come back strong!

Very best to ya. Follow doctor's orders. A friend of our family, now gone, had TWO major open heart surgeries in his mid 70's He lived to be a ripe old age 1917--2010, he was NINETY THREE. Christ he was in his mid to late eighties used to drive all over hell to go to farm related equipment auctions.......just for fun.

Glad you're comin along. I may give you a shout in the next few days.

I had open heart surgery 10+ years ago..... Anyways, they gave me a firm pillow, and told me, if I had to cough, or sneeze, hug the pillow tightly... It still hurts but it does help.
Hope you recover soon!!
