69 Cuda Restoration

With the light at the end of the tunnel in view, I figured now would be a good time to finally make a thread dedicated to the restoration of my 1969 Barracuda Cuda 340 package car.

Car is factory Q5 and H6W.

Front suspension: PST 1.03 torsions, Bilstein shocks, QA1 upper & lower control arms, Hotchkis sway bar, and QA1 strut bars. 11/32 tie rods with QA1 sleeves.

Rear Suspension: Hotchkis leafs, and Bilstein shocks.

Brakes: FMJ spindles with slider calipers, Dr. diff 10.7" rears and man brake master.

Engine: 10.5:1 JE 2618 pistons, 4.1" bore, stock stroke. Eddy air gap, Custom grind Hughes mech roller/ lifters/ springs/ retainers, Comp mag roller rockers, MSD e curve pro billet, ARP main/ head studs and wavelocs. Holley ultra 750, Milodon road race pan setup and all the other small stuff that goes along.

Drivetrain: Mcleod clutch & flywheel, Dennys alum shaft, 3.91 gears in the 489 with billet spacer, Dr. diff bbp axles, and the trans gone through.

Interior: Legendary covers/ door panels/ sun visors. ACC carpet and mats. Instrument specialties restored the cluster/ bezel/ console. PG classic wood grain wheel and added a factory tach.

Exhaust: TTI stepped headers, 3" x pipe exhaust with 3"tips.

The grilles are being refinished now, and then the car can have the hood repainted.

This is the car the first day the orig owner took the car home in 69. Bottom is me in 2018 and in 1994.

Wow, very nice and good looking car with a lot of fine parts on it - excellent job. Interior, exterior color and those rims match perfectly. Thanks for sharing your restoration project. BTW, I really like your garage, cleaness and organisation.

The orig owner special ordered it and luckily i still talk to him often. He was kind enough to give me everything from the deposit to order the car to the delivery acknowledgement. Thank you I've been restoring this car since 2010 by myself besides the cluster/ console/ bezel and radio.

Kudos to you then. These cuda package cars are my favorites. Bought one new in '69 myself. My sister, my dog and my car.

That is an awesome picture. It must of been something to be around all these cars when new
lol, if you were a gear head it certainly was. I worked at Pontiac dealership after school and used to park this out front on the main road to keep an eye on it. (had a small left front fender issue that's why the trim is missing)The owner of the dealership asked me to park it in the back because customers would ask if "that car" was for sale. Of course I didn't and wouldn't park it anywhere else.
 
Great looking car! Would you mind sharing the rear tire size and the rear wheel width and backspacing? Also if you have any modifications to the spring hangers or wheel lips to make them fit? I have a 69 fastback also and trying to decide how wide I can go on tires and rims. Thanks for any info and congratulations on your beautiful Barracuda!

@A56, I like that picture. Can you give me some information on the headrests you had in that car? They seem to be higher than all the others I have seen so far. For safety reasons, I would like to have also a pair of higher headrests, which really support the head.

Hey Wolfgang, They are adjustable (pull up, push down) factory headrests on bench seats which were a little different shape than the ones on my bucket seat A56 that I have now. I never fooled with them much, but I was always cleaning the car so I may have had them pulled all the way up and left them like that.

17x9.5 with 5.5 bs low pad height, 255 45 17 tires in the rear. Factory a body rear with bbp axles and dr. diff 10.7 rear discs. The body and suspension set up is untouched as far as mounting locations or clearanced. Spring hangers are hotckis upfront with stock shackles in rear.Thank you!
 
Wow your vin is close to my A56. Do you have the fender tag?
 
Wow, Amazing skill and patience, beautiful Cuda, Totally love it.
My 68 is QQ1, but I think Q5 might be my favorite paint colour now.
So beautiful!!!!!!!!
 
A56 cars were like the "Roadrunners" of the A bodies. Mine is all manual brakes and steering. No upgrades just performance.
