Took on a little side job for a friend of a friend. Car doesn't need much metal work. Somebody has put quarter skins on it and it looks like i will have to address some of thier sins but, overall pretty clean car. Right now the plan for my part of this car is just body and paint. I will try to keep this updated so check back often.

Got out today and got the rest of the car stripped, welded up some trim holes on one door. Removed grille, front bumper and, taillight assemblies. No real pictures tonight. It will be in epoxy primer by the weekend....

what did you use to strip off the rest of the prime/paint on the panels?

Just a D.A. with 180 grit paper. 180 is more than enough for the epoxy primer to bite to but, not agressive enough to leave deep scratches in the metal and cause more work later to make sure they dont creep back in after some primer and paint shrinkage.

Well....here I am again not keeping up with the posts. Been busy taking care of prior sins to the car. I have most of them adressed and should be on track to put some primer on this weekend.

One major issue is this creased up, bent up, bondoed up, beat up, beat in, caved in, hole drilled, piece of s#$@ door. This thing looks awesome in the picture compared to what it looks like in person. This door will not be used. I just wish i would of removed the filler BEFORE i spent the time welding up the trim holes....lol.

What did the factory use for the pink primered area where the roof meets the rear quarter, lead? At some point in time I need to address this on my 70 Dart and it seems like an area of flex.

Yes from the factory it is leaded in. Most of the lead is still in this one but, the person before me loaded it up with spot putty...nice!!! I ground it all out and used some metal to metal then, a skim of regular filler and, finished it off with some icing.

Here i go again not keeping up with whats going on....lol. So as it sits the heavy bodywork is complete, car has been sealed up with epoxy primer. Now its time to make it laser straight. I have about 1/2 of one side skimmed and straightened. No picture of that but, here it is in the epoxy.

About done smoothing out the passenger side, should be able to finish this side tomorrow night and then....on to the drivers side. It looks like the drivers side doesn't need as much work...hopefully. Anyway...any progress is good!!

After about 35 hours of blocking and straightening the passenger side....I'm gonna say it is straight as an arrow...no...wait...that was a Plymouth, ok, its laser straight....no....wait...that was a Chrysler....So, I guess Dart straight??? Oh well...on to the drivers side!!!

Spent some time over the last couple days working on the drivers side, should be done with it in the next couple days...weather permitting....because my cars won't sit out in the rain. Hopefully another round of primer this week and painting in a couple weeks!!!
