how are you guys insuring your daily driver/ classic car ? Thinking of buying a mopar wagon that I can drive during the weekends to the campground. Something like a 62-64 mopar. Most specialty companys (hagerty etc) limit general driving. and say car must be in a garage .

I have Heacock and yes to limited driving and stored in a garage. They wouldn't cover my 79 F-150 that i drove like 20 miles a year even when it was parked 100% of the time off the street beside my house. For a daily you'll need to go to any of the big insurance company's.

Farmer's
Just added it to my regular car policy with liability only, 65 dollars for 6 months.

I have Allstate for normal daily. And Chubb for my other classic cars. But Chubb wants it garaged/ and limited use.

Your best bet on a daily driver would be regular , not classic, car insurance. God forbid an accident or stolen vehicle you have to make up stories why and where things happened. Many years ago my Honda Civic was stolen and Insurance Co. asked why car was in Brooklyn and I told them I tell you I commute to work with it. They didn't like being on the hook for the damage when I got the car back, but of course my *** was covered.

I have Haggarty and they never said anything about mileage restrictions or needing to be garaged

Hagerty and others had way too many restrictions for me. Since I also wanted the option of a modest nitrous system (NOS Powershot 125 hp), I found that only Heacock Classic (underwritten by American Modern) would cover my Dart. So that's who I went with ;)
They also allow pleasure use, not just driving to shows and parades. Although like all classic insurance, they do require that the car be kept in a locked garage when not in use.

I'll have to check with AllState and also Heacock. It would be nice to have a vehicle that I could drive during the nice weather weekends ( that did not have to be to a car show...getting tired of that !/ 3 cars and never get to drive them...time to start thinking of selling some, and buying a real driver/ with user friendly insurance.)

So I just read over my Haggarty policy. No mention of mileage restrictions or needing to be kept in a garage. Only restriction close to either of those is that you must have another car insured with another company and your classic car can’t be claimed as your daily driver, only a pleasure vehicle.

You don't want to have Collector Plates on your daily driver, that is where you can get into trouble doing anything other than parades and car shows.

Need to get the regular plates with the yearly renewal. So you are paying the tax to use the road.

GEICO. I don't want classic car insurance. It's nobody's business WHERE I keep it, HOW MUCH I drive it, or whether i's restored or not. Screw them companies. Most companies will send an adjuster out and give you an agreed on amount for a policy. We're lucky that we have a really good adjuster. He knows enough to know when he sees a little rust and bondo, it's not a POS.

I agree with the above comments. You do not want classic car insurance. Add it as a second car to your regular insurance. One guy said Farmers only charged him $65 for 6 months -- a good deal. My Farmers agent quoted me more than $200 for 6 months for liability only.

My wife is an insurance agent for Nationwide she's been one for 18 years she has ours with Haggerty on the GTX we have roughly $28,000 agreed value at about $500 a year like 486 actual cost no limit on mileage you can run standard plates I hope this helps

I got a 1980 Dodge Mirada daily driver insured with Nationwide.
$1100 a year for basic liability....

Clean drivers license, no tickets or accidents............

Im switching to Hagerty

what state are you in

NY
Long Island..... in a town that’s considered nice and somewhat “upscale” .....
Here’s my policy for basic daily driven liability on these cars....
That’s $2015 for a 6 month policy with Nationwide. I’ve shopped around and that’s the going price in my area....

I had to get a plate for my Duster It was in my driveway and the wind blew the cover off Even though I put the cover back on I got a notice the next day from code enforcement. I live on a dead end in the back of a neighborhood. I had USAA put storage insurance on it just to get a plate so the efing neighbor would leave me alone. Yes I know who did it

Look into broadform insurance. I currently have 15 registered vehicles covered with broadform.
It doesn't give you a lot of coverage but it makes it so you can have multiple cars that can be registered and driven. I'm about 650.00 for a full year of broadform through farmers insurance. Not all states allow this. Colorado does.

In my county (marion) in Fl, we don't need to have plates/tags on every vehicle on our property. I have 10 vehicles, with three insured and tagged. Our county has a "unserviceable vehicle" code. As long as the vehicle will start and move under its own power, it is legal. If it is "unserviceable" it must be kept in a completely inclosed structure. A harbour freight carport meets the requirement, if you close it in with tarps.
