1.6 verses 1.5 rockers

I could be wrong, but I think the 1.6 ratio is to add to the cam lift. Shorter pushrods kind of negating the 1.6 ratio advantage.

Not exactly. The shorter pushrod may be needed because of the contact point on the rocker arm. That’s what I think Kim is thinking. You still get the lift extra Benefit.

That’s right Rumble. I have new Smith Brothers pushrods that they made too short. I sent them 1 from the motor so they could make an exact match. But that didn’t happen. I have 4-5 threads under the rocker. I only had 2 b4. I have 1.6 rockers to try. If no difference I’ll give Manton a try. Kim

Is shorter pushrods usually needed? I have 1.5 now and going to 1.6 Thanks. Kim
There is no universal answer, you have to install the new rockers and make a measurement. If you are staying with the same brand of rocker and they were built at roughly the same time then maybe the pushrods will be the same but I wouldn't bet on it. If you are changing brands then almost guaranteed that you'll need different pushrods.

Kim, if it hasn’t been to long of a time period, I’d. All and complain. Then add in before the ball gets rollling to far to make a new set instead of duplicates at they should have made in the first place. It’s worth a shot.

Andy, they are a different brand. I’m hoping they need a shorter pushrod. I would like to get back to 2 or 3 threads showing. Kim

Rumble, I called them multiple times to no satisfaction. They didn’t help nothing. Didn’t care. This was in July 2017. My race car has sat since then. I’ll never buy from them again or recommend them ever to anyone. Kim

That was my experience with them. I told them what I wanted and they gave me a set 1/8 smaller than I told them over the phone and have refused to resolve the issue. Hope you can get them to resolve it Kim.

I am done with them. Even their shipping was crazy to ship to ND. Kim

I use 1.6 on the intake and 1.5 on the exhaust ...both pushrods are the same length....
Got at 5 sets of Smith brother pushrods...never had a problem with them....

Different brand means you'll need to mock it up and verify the length. There is no way to know until you measure it.

This with the new pushrods. Old pushrods 2 threads showing. I have run the motor some like this. Smith brothers said it’s ok to run this way as their adjusters have more threads on them. They are new adjusters from them. Kim

Mark the top off the valve stems with a sharpie. Install rockers and adj. bar over the engine . loosen rockers. They will leave a ‘clean’ spot where the rollers are hitting the valve stem
How many threads above the rocker , by the jam nut ?

Ideal would be a few threads out the top , but if the pattern on the valve stem looks good and you watch the bottom of the rocker so it does not contact the retainer I don’t think you will have a problem

There shouldn’t be any more than a thread showing. That’s the most. The actual measurement is the adjuster need to be out .281 minus zero, plus .050 which is right out of the book.
