Look at the stickers under the hood to see what spark plugs for what engine it shows on the sticker. That's the easiest way to tell, if the engine has not been changed out
I paid 500 for my last 1999 4x4 2500 extended cab with a blown 5.9. I paid 1200 for my last 2000 standard cab 1500 4x4 with a super running 5.9.

One quick way is injector color. A 5.9 will have red bodied injectors, and a 5.2 will have black bodies with a blue ring.

I think that's '98 up, I believe pre-98 that is not the case.
The guy that had it died. The rest of the family are not car folks.
Ok it is a 5.9. Won’t start and don’t know why. It’s 4x4 and I was wanting 2 wheel drivetrain. But, now I know what to look for. Thanks folks.
