64-66 abody radiator brackets for shroud

-
Quick question 65 Dartman- in your parts book do you list a radiator ending in 28 and 30 for the 66’ abody? I sent my 66 273 Abody radiator for auto ending in 28 out today for recore and I kept my manual trans 66’ radiator ending in 30. Both have an “AC” stamped in the top tank left side - right side has the part number. I’m curious if the “AC” is for air conditioning or just a build code.
#928 is a 19" slant 6 auto/heater. The #930 has been chatted about. 22" 273 manual with heat only but mine has "AC" stamped in the tank.

Thanks Mike,

I just responded to my own post with an EDIT update. I wonder if the top tank was changed on my auto radiator at one time.
It seemed to be repaired or a few times repaired so it would make sense. The top tank is diffrent width than the 19" top tank I also have from 1966. Crap! so much for numbers matching show car.... time to tub and dub on airbags, the car is now worthless.

Here is the page with the radiator part numbers. Note that this page superseded the same page dated May 1965 - this page is dated Mar 66

Here’s a few pics of the 63/64 slant radiator with the corresponding shroud. I sold this about a month ago.

FWIW, this is the radiator in my '65 Formula S. It is not the original piece, but it does have the correct part number.

It is 22" wide and has "AB" above the part number. I don't think the "AC" means "Air Conditioner".

It also has the provisions in the brackets for shroud mounting.

Ok, here is what I have....the 4 matching brackets are for a original 1966 A-body 22” radiator with a shroud.

The shiny black bracket is the same as the other 4 except I think I drilled the bolt hole larger for some reason but I didn’t need the shroud anymore on that car so I removed it and installed it on my dads 66.

The other bracket I believe is for a B-body car and it’s quite different, look at the pictures. The most obvious is the long hole for adjustment, but the curve and tab at the front are also different. The holes also don’t line up the same. Not sure where I got this, probably ebay but didn’t realize it was different till it matched them up.

The reproduction B-body ones look just like the above mentioned bracket with the slot, I’m not sure if they will work or not but I’m guessing they won’t just bolt right up without some mods being made to get them to fit properly. If they are able to be used most will never even notice the difference.

The original brackets are harder to find than the rare shroud....they were small parts and easily got lost! Hope this helps.....BTW, sorry the brackets are not for sale since they belong to a shroud I have.

I just ordered the EBay set of b body / 66 abody ones so I will know in about a week if they are in fact plausible. The one in the photos I sent Chris at cold case today via email (66’ V8 rad shield) is verified original and even the bolts holding it together should be factory. I’m curious if the repop brackets are correct. View attachment 1715603494View attachment 1715603495 View attachment 1715603496View attachment 1715603497

66340SEDAN- thank you for the pictures! I greatly appreciate those. It looks like I can bring those to my welding shop and work them in to submission for them to do as I need. They look longer and offset is further but i bet I can tweek them.

Toolmanmike - Thank you for the pictures. I called my local Chrysler dealer to ask what the "AB" and "AC" ment and the guy a 40 year veteran Mopar parts dealer said even today the Chrysler number system is the part number then the revision.
XXXXXXXX-AA, or XXXXXXXX-AB Etc. It is the way to show what updates are done so if a warranty part roles in and Chrysler wants to see it, they know what version they are dealing with.
Learn something new everyday LOL!

That is a real bummer as those re pops are like $65.00 on ebay. That's a lot to be wrong.
You pictures show they are off quite a bit. Nothing my 100ton press can's straighten out. :)

Here's what I have for radiators in a couple of my original '66 Barracudas. My 273 4bbl 4 speed Hamtramck 49 state car has the 2582930, which has a 2 row core. My 32,000 mile survivor is a Formula S auto. LA plant Ca car. with heavy duty cooling uses a 2582975 which is a 3 row with a shroud. Neither car has A/C.
