Hi trying to find answer to the following questions for building a 10 point roll cage but I can not find anything via google. Hoping someone here can help.

1. With a backhalfed ladder bar car. Does the main hoop need to be welded right on top of the ladder bar crossmember? Or can the main hoop of the roll cage be welded directly behind the ladder bar crossmember. see pic below

2. When is it necessary or a good idea to have the rear frame rails for the roll cage braced with an x between them instead of no brace and just straight back only?

Highly doubtful your going to get an exact answer here and I'd be leery of one that is not from a known, competent chassis builder. That being said. There are several good, well written books on the subject and you can also use the NHRA rulebook as a guide. I know the trick is to build it "just" strong enough and that no welds can be ground on.

2020 NHRA Rulebook now available online

Depends on how fast the car is going to go. If the car is going to be certified for 9.00 or faster then you should get the local NHRA tech guy on the line or have them stop by your shop and take a look. If it is just going to run 10's or 11's then you are probably fine as is. We did an X in my car even though it is just a street car. I liked the way the X looked so I had the chassis shop do it. The X costs more money since it takes time for them to properly fit the tubing.

Makes the car stiffer too , if it ever really hooks up ! ----I didnt x mine tho----

How comfortable is that seat Andy ?? I have rebuilt and had my stock buckets recovered, and have looked at lite weight seats and havent found anything that floats my boat , am running the stock console too, could probly lose a hundred pounds removing it and the seats.
