Called it years ago. " Once a maker makes a drop in electric drive train for a Chevy 350/350, watch it catch on.."

The new crate motor by EV West and Revolt fits just like a small-block Chevy

Whats to say it wont be mandated under a new 'green' administration for a cars prior to 1986? Like digital TV tuners.......

wonder if my Dana and carbon fibre driveshaft will handle all that hp and torque not that i'd buy one it's like going to a zeplin concert and having the notes play on a big screen but no sound

$25 - 35k.... and that doesn't include batteries or controllers.

Why not just buy a model S and pull the stuff out!?

Prices will come down just like all electronics. If it can make my GTS flip over on it top from a dead stop like my RC monster truck can, I'm in.

Cd burners were $10,000 when they first came out as well as plasma TV's. Now they are both under $100. 35K for an electric motor and some reduction gears? C'MON MAN! you sure that doesn't in in include a tesla like 18650 based battery pack? Once the custom made CNC billit parts are cast in aluminum at $40 a pop the price will plummet. Maybe even a government subsidy(sp) to get us off our now domestically sourced petroleum?

California said they were outlawing Gasoline motors by 2040, Biden says he is going to phase out fossil fuels altogether , this may be the future of classic cars.

Close, but that's not totally accurate. The Executive Order signed by CA's Governor is simply a formalized goal of limiting sales of new passenger vehicles to ZE by 2035 among other things. The EO is far from an actual "law" and current vehicles on the road are not affected by it.

If I cannot figure out how to run my carbureted gasoline engine with a digital converter box, I will just try to build the most realistic full size Tamiya Bruiser, Blazing Blazer, or Toyota Hilux truck. It looks like they copied that Tamiya motor and transmission setup.

so the military is going all electric?besides the grid can hardly stand now on a hot day or cold winter day , imagine if every truck and car plugged in ? One thing for sure travell restrictions will be easy to apply . unless they come up with small nuke plants to fit a car it ain't going to fly AT LEAST NOT YET

Poor value. You can be gay for the cost of a cheeseburger and a park entry permit.

The fact that a governor even thinks this way is complete bullshit. As I've said many times before, electric cars are not "green"

sure they are someone is making a ton o green digging for them precious metals

With an all electric military- imagine going to war on a cloudy day! We would have call off the war until we could recharge the batteries.

Way back in the 1970s I ran out of gas on the way to the gas station. I had a 4 speed Polara at the time. I put the car in gear and used the old monster starter to get it to the pump! It was a wonderful sound of that classic Chrysler starter whining away as the car went down the street. I was green before my time.

"but “crate engines” like this go a long way toward introducing zero-emission solutions ."

Oh, pleeze. You can't pull electricity out of thin air, and batteries have to be charged by something that also cannot pull electricity out of thin air. And batteries have a limited life, and cost many many times what a quick gas-engine refresh costs.

Don't worry, 2035 will likely never get here. but if it does, nobody will be able to afford to eat, never mind buy a new electric vehicle.
