340 Motor mounts

I have proposed to my company’s owner the idea of producing them however they need to be marketable to justify production.

I am shooting for exact duplicates of the original Mopar engine brackets and hope I can get them in process too.

This is awesome, hopefully black painted, ideally powder coated, with good automotive grade black hardware, fine thread bolts, nuts, flat and lock washers.

Just an FYI The factory fine threaded nuts are locking in nature and didnt need lock washers. By mid 1970s chrysler switched to a coarse threaded bolt and "stove nuts" I have removed these type of coarse thread bolts and stove nuts from mid 70s 360 truck engines.

Not disputing anything said, but given we are talking about 68-72 type mounts, fine thread would still apply based on info you shared.

I trust Mr Sinister will do what he can to stay true to originality as much as possible.:thumbsup:

Unless your looking for exact to OEM copies down to the stamped in part number for a restoration, with bolts and nuts with exact markings for a restoration, the fact that the bolts are coarse thread or fine thread does not matter as far a strength goes in this area. If it did then Chrysler would never have switched to a coarse thread and a stove nut in the mid 70s. I will likely stick with fine thread and stove nuts if thats whats needed to sell these.

This all being said the prototypes of the 6 pairs of 340/360 mounts are mine. Trying to sort some things with the hardware issues right now and do test fitting on a 360 block, and also get to a friends place to test on a 340 block. This being said these are the same thickness as OEM 7 gage steel .1875" thick. These are NOT made in China!!! Before somebody tries to get that **** storm started, I'm ending it.

My friend who makes these runs a 390 inch dart drag car in Brazil. He uses a variation of these mounts that fit a 318 on the LH side, along with moroso solid mounts to attach to the K frame. These do not bend even without the extra piece. I already asked that question.

They do not have 340/360 blocks there with the different LH mount ear location, so he prototyped these off my 360 block dimensions. These are the first 6 pairs. Because Brazillian 318 blocks are cast a little different the mounting ears are not as thick. The mounting hardware that was sent is too short.

Anyways as much as I want to list these for sale right now, I cannot since I want to offer a true bolt on kit with the right hardware and want make sure everything fits as it's supposed to. Please do not inundate my mailbox wanting these, they are not for sale yet

Not sure if I should add this here or not since this is someone else's thread, however my friend and i also collaborated on LH motor mount limiters. Also NOT made in China. He stated these are good to 300HP I think if you box the ends the tab fits into, then maybe more. This will be a less expensive alternative to polyloc mounts allowing you to use less expensive and smoother stock rubber motor mounts, plus it's nice and hidden. I think guys with stock or mildly hopped up cars will like this as an easily installed bolt on option that can be done at the same time when swapping in new stock motor mounts instead of a visible torque chain, harsh solid mount or expensive polyloc mount. I will be listing these soon since I have 19 of them to sell, and one is a keeper for my sons 69 notch. I want to get a better picture, and be sure these will clear an A body power steering box first. Tentative pricing on the LH engine mount limiter will be $38 plus the ride.

Check out the legalities of exact copies. If a Mopar part number and/or Pentastar is used it could get you in a jam. Ask Dave Layson about that.
 
Yes...always check copyright laws if doing exact... to add a part number like The Originals will really cost you...

That has already been a consideration and there will be contact with Mopar. My company is a supplier to Mopar.

:thumbsup: The pics here are not mine they are prototypes already in process by another individual and very nice looking parts at that.


I would absolutely be interested in a set when available, please keep us posted as they come available.
 
340-360(non magnum) Blocks have the same block ear spread&thickness. I have sold the hardware kit for years. simple 1 1/2 inch long 7/16s sae(fine thread) bolt,thin washer and a lock nut. The passenger side bracket is the same 273-318-340-260 from 1967-1972. the drivers side 340 bracket bolts right up to the 360 block.
