I'm working on a 68 Dart with a 70 slant six block and an unknown radiator, definitely not a 68. I ordered a lower hose for a 68 from Rockauto. I had to wrestle it into place but it fouls on the fan belt, no way to adjust it out of the way. It's a non-A/C, auto trans car. I have the old hose that I removed which did fit but it has no markings or numbers. Thought about bringing it to the parts store and trying to match it up to something. I don't want to use a 'universal' hose. Any ideas?

Welcome!
Pics of the offending hose and your setup would help, but you're on the right track- take the old hose that fits to the parts store and see if you can match something up. If they won't look, or let you look, change parts stores.
Good luck!

Here are a couple of pix.

Just a thought- did you try flipping the hose around in the other direction?

Yeah, the other way around it won't work at all. I cleaned and detailed the engine to look a little more like a 68 without going into a restoration, I think it came out pretty clean. Anxious to fire it up and tune it but this hose has the project on pause.

That looks like it might be a '73 and up radiator, could start your search with that?

Yes, the Rockauto photo of a '73 Dart hose looks spot on. For $12 I'm going to just go ahead and order it. Thanks!

That reminds me, I once saw a patient who had a big tramp stamp with her own name in the center. I told my nurse afterwards that it's probably so the guy behind her knows which name to call her. She about peed herself laughing :D

That's reminds me of a girl tattooing "Exit Only" just above her ***...

The lower hose on my '64 /6 looks just like that. Advance Auto was the only place in town that had one that wasn't universal. I found that if I twisted both ends and clamped very little twist into the curve where the belt was hitting, it would clear by "enough". I have 2K miles since installing the lower hose with no more belt to hose contact issues.

Good luck!

What is the diameter of your water pump fitting and the radiator fitting?
