So my Father has been working on this Dart for 3 years. He has been telling me that its mine for a year now, mainly because his first borne, my assh$%e brother, the one hes been building it for, told him he wouldnt be caught dead driving it because it's a 66 not a 65. I know right....
So the next thing I know, my dad says he's selling the Dart. I said screw that, you have too much of you invested in it, I'll buy it first, how much do you want?
Now nothing will do but the Dart is mine .. he wont accept $, it's some kind of family heirloom.
Really... the jokes on me... truthfully I wasn't keen on the body style, ... but its grown on me... for so many unforeseen, blood and sweat soaked reasons. Truthfully... today... You'll have better luck trying to peel my AR out of my cold dead fingers than the keys to this Dart.
But I digress.
There's so much more to this story. More to follow about how and when my dad passed her to me, why... and how unprepared I actually was.

What great story. Lets see some pics of your new ride.

What kind of dick says he won't take an awesome car like that!

Welcome to FABO. Post up some pics when you can. I have a 66 GT 273-4/4 speed car. There are quite a few 66 darts here.
Check this out:

Hope these go through.

Send some more pics, I'm trying to see the "bad" in this car and it's not showing up! Welcome from Minnesota, you joined a great site. Steve
It's not "bad"... just a driver with a lot of my father in it. Every screw has been turned, every part has been inspected/repaired/tweaked/replaced. If that's not enough, quit reading.

Sorry, I didn't mean it to come out that way. I really like your car and would like to have one like it. Send some more pics. We like pics here.

Welcome from Michigan, the Motor City! Nice looking Dart, some day your brother will regret that. 65'

The 66 is not my favorite, but I sure wouldn't turn one down and insult it either. That's a neat lookin little car. I like it.

Sorry to say it and with all my respect, but your brother is an idiot He will regret it some day.. Here is mine... It took me 3 years to built it.

Hello and Welcome, your Dart looks quite nice. Congratulations to this car, if most things are repaired and everything works on a 56 year old car, you are already a lucky one.

Cheers Wolfgang

Had a 64 and a 65 and 2 67's but always liked the front end best on the 66.Maybe someday I'll find a 66 post.

Thanks all,
Spent my first weekend fixing electrical issues.
No running lights... turned out to be bad LED bulbs, went back to 1137s and its fixed.
No rear lights, blinkers or brake lights. Turned out to be corrosion in the fuse box. 3 hrs and a needle file fixed that.
Then there was the running hot.... 220 degrees, and shutting off at idle.
It seems my dad got an idea off the interweb to pipe both breather caps to a T and connect that to the main breather. So the 360 had constant suction on both sides with no way for fresh air to get in... I didnt pick up on it right away, but knew something was wrong with the excess heat and the fact my oil turned black in 3 weeks
After thorough research, I replaced the breather cap on the passenger side with a PCV valve, piped it to the carburetor, replaced the 14 inch air cleaner, and put a fresh breather cap on the driver side. Air now flows through the engine, it runs better, never gets above 200 degrees, and idles just fine.

Here's my 66 Phil. It has been a fun car.

2 weeks ago I let a local shop give Cherry a front end alignment. Everything went well until last week. I lost brakes...
It's bad enough the front end wondered randomly 5 or 6 degrees left or right without touching the steering wheel. (More on this later), but throw no brakes on top and I had to go buy more underwear.
I saved myself with the emergency brake, but screwed that up in the process. Prolly needs adjusted. Anyway.... I ended up putting in a new master cylinder and bleeding out about 10 ounces, or so, of cappuccino colored foam from the lines.
If anyone wants to know what happens when someone tops off the master cylinder with power steering fluid... see below.
