Just read about your build and condolences on the loss of your mum (Lost mine July 4th).

I know my peepers are getting worse every year and it may be an optical illusion but are your rear tires Smaller than the fronts?

Thank you!!! This holiday stuff has been kinda hard and we have only made it past Thanksgiving....
Your peepers are just fine. It has some low profile drag radials on the back....they will be coming off sometime before spring.

I just got done reading about your Cuda resurrection...good stuff!!!

Well...about the time I thought I was pretty much done enough on the Duster the gas tank started leaking. Put a new one in and, got the sending unit reading much better. I also got rid off the goofy looking drag radials on the back...

Had to move it today so I could change some bulbs in the garage. So I thought I would throw a better picture up with the new tires on the back..

Going to dust off this thread as over the summer the engine has developed a nasty vibration. I went through this engine 15 years ago but, then it sat for almost 15 years so.... Real soon I'm gonna pull the engine out freshen it up...bearings, rings, cam,oil pump, nothing radical just a nice cruising engine as my son will be driving it and, the 512 in my Challenger is enough for me. I moved some things around in the garage and, hauled a load of stuff to the storage shed to make some room. Stayed tuned.

What a nice looking car.
I wish you the best on the engine refurbishment.

Looks like it might start coming apart toight. My wifes car will be gone for a couple days so it will give me enough time in the evenings to get it out without having to move her car around or anything

Brought the Duster home and got radiator drained, and wiring unhooked...just general disassembly. Tomorrow evening I will get an earlier start and get more done. Waiting for my buddy to bring my cherry picker back..probably Thursday.

Sweet looking Duster! Love the color, great build thread, hope your engine ills aren't anything major.
I dont think it is, I'm gonna bet the cam is junk and, the balancer is coming apart...don't know that for sure but I'm just guessing at this point. Its leaking some oil anyway so just gonna freshen it up.

I'm debating on taking it out the bottom with k frame....not sure yet.

After work today I ran to a buddies house to grab my engine stand then, to another buddies to grab my cherry picker. Then out to the garage got the headers unbolted, pulled the tranny...I love it when the transmission get hung up on the exhaust and falls off my transmission jack!!! LOVE IT!!!! LOL!!! Tomorrow pop off the hood undo the motor mounts and out it comes!!

Engine out. Its hurt somewhere i just havent found the smoking gun yet. When I drained the oil it had some metal swirls in it. I can't say I am surprised as, I think the balancer was coming apart and this thing has probably shook the main bearings to death and, thats where the metal came from. Tonight I will disassemble the bottom end and, I'm sure I will find some suspect looking main bearings. On a happy note... the cylinders walls still look pretty good.

When I went to take the timing chain off the cam gear wouldn't budge like maybe its twisted the cam key or something. It was stuck on there so bad that as I was apply some pressure to try and slide it off it ripped the whole center off the gear out. So. Now the center of the timing gear is stuck on the end of the cam...SWEET!! Never seen that before. I guess I will try a bearing puller on it so i can get the cam plate off.

Engine is tore down..this is going to be a small budget build. Ordered rings, bearings, gaskets, cam and lifters, new balancer and, flexpate. I also made a deal witb a friend on another motor and really beefed up 727. My 727 works and has a shift kit but, this other one is got a lot of good stuff in it. I didnt really have a need for the other engine but, i wanted the heads, intake, valve covers off it and, i got a good price. I went ahead and cleaned up the block and honed the cylinders so when parts show up I should be ready to assemble...

I'd never seen this thread before...WOW. What a great build, what a great car. You should be soooo proud. Its an inspiration for my own in-process project! Now I'll get to watch the rest of the thread!

Very cool. Yeah, you know you're doin somethin when you dump a mess all over the floor. lol Progress

Wow, this was a fun read. I love the car, and you did a great job bringing it all back together. Hoping the motor install goes without a hitch. It’s nice to see another car make it back to the road.

Thank you for the comments. Been at a kind of stand still waiting for parts. Cam, oil pump, header bolts and header gaskets and, new balancer showed up today. Bearings and rings should be here by the end of the week. In the meantime I bought a 318 and stought 727 from a friend of mine. I bought this package as I wanted the intake, valve covers, and the 302 casted heads for the 360. I'm gonna use the 727 also since its built way more than the one I put together and used in the car. This 318 is really nice and clean, it ALMOST makes me feel funny gutting it for my own pleasure...lol.

Been kind of slow but, yesterday i put the crank and cam in, put the timing chain, timing cover and, water pump on. Still waiting for the rings and rod bearings to show up so I can finish up. They should be here Tuesday-ish...

Soooo...as I have said before I'm absolutely terrible about keeping up on my threads...
Well, things went sideways on the 360 so, for the time being i freshened up the 318 and put it in for now. The future of the 360 is undecided right now...maybe a 408...not sure but, the cars is running good and ready for cruising season.
