Just found this sub-forum! Spent the last few days looking through the last 10 pages. Some great stuff for sure.

I purchased a 1969 RHD Barracuda here in the UK a few months ago. I created a thread on it in another sub-forum not realising this one was here and had a lot of great help identifying the year ( I was told it was a 1967) Just a rolling shell and a spare Trunk Lid.

Another member here did some sleuth work and found a 10 year old advertisement for it that allowed me to trace the ebay seller. I contacted him and amazingly he responded and managed to track down the buyer who believe it or not still had most of the missing parts stored.

Getting the parts off of the guy proved to be quite dificult and took a few months for me to actually get my hands on them. Id all but given up hope of getting them till he called me outta the blue and said they need gone that day, send him the cash and he'll have them delivered.

Whilst waiting for the guy with the parts to actually part with them I managed to track down a RHD Dash Frame and Cluster from another RHD Barracuda plus a complete RHD Wiring Loom and a few other goodies.

Ive also managed to have two new quarter panels shipped over from the UK. A AMD L/H/S panel as it was on offer, and a more generic R/H/S panel, the brand I forget, but having looked on here for reviews its certainly not as good as the AMD version but the price reflects this.

First plan is to continue stripping it down, as its 90% already done and get media blasted to see what actually needs replaced. Looking forward to getting started.

Well if you insist. :D

I did post a bunch up on the other thread but as threads seem to it wandered and meandered all over the place. At one point I thought I was having a private convo and eventually realised I was replying on my thread. :D

I'll get some posted up asap.:)

Glad it's all coming together for you.

This is how it was about 10 years ago when it was last advertised. Avery very bad blow over paint job that covered everything from the convertible top to the washer bottle. Its fairly low miles at 63,000, not been around the clock as the yearly inspections show it slowly building up.

Interesting that they used a Ford type rag joint between the steering column and gear box.

For those of you not familiar with UK RHD Barracudas they where built in the US and shipped over to the UK to the sole supplier Warwick Wright. There is a bit of a myth regarding these UK Barrcauda's being basically Formula S cars but with either 273 or 318. Its not far off the mark though. Kelsey Kays 4 pot Disk Brakes, HD rear drums, HD shocks and 8.75 741 rear end with 3.23 gears and a sure-grip!

Some say its to suit the UK small and winding roads and the UK driver would expect better handling and feel. But Ive since been told that Chrysler wanted to limit warranty claims from cars so far away, that does make more sense.

Few more pics. Needs at lest the drivers front floor pan replaced, will know more about the passenger after the media blasting. From chassis legs are needing serious work. Trunk looks ok.

A few pictures of the parts I received this week.

Unfortunately the Engine is long gone but I do have a 1968 340 that will soon be ready to slot in. :D It was rebuilt 7 years ago with good and great parts like;

Great car and rare. I also have a right hand drive Barracuda convertible as well. It is a 1967 column shift automatic car. My car is in alot worse shape than yours and I have been gathering parts for the last 5 years and doing some small body work items as well.
I have noticed that the glove box door badge is missing and i hope you have it I believe that it is only on the right hand drive Barracudas. There are parts diffences under the dash as well such as the air box and fresh air vent also.
I would like to help you with info if you need it on this project.

Hey,

thanks for the message. :) The Dash currently sitting in the Barracuda is from a 1968 RHD Barracuda I now have the correct and original 1969 Dash for my Barracuda with the VIN plate, but Ive not checked for the Door Badge yet.

Any and all help is more welcome, you'll have a much better knowledge of these cars than I.

Are you still missing parts?

Looks like that steering gear must bolt to the frame rail instead of the K-member. Must be fun trying to find replacement steering parts, like the pitman and idler. Interesting that they decided to use a Valiant dash instead of the Barracuda version that we use. It was probably much cheaper to make considering the limited number they would be selling.

Yes the steering box bolts directly to the frame rail. A major weak point when rust sets in but the boys back in Oz have a few solutions for that.

Surprisingly there is an abundance of parts from Australia to suit RHD A Bodies. I ship them over regularly for my Valiant Charger.

I think they had to go with a Valiant Dash as Valiant made a RHD Dash and Plymouth did not, not for the RHD though (as far as I know?) It was a limited number run, but over 650 RHD '67-'69 Barracudas where sold new in the UK alone, thats not including South Africa, Fiji, Australia and NZ etc. So not such a small run maybe?

I can't imagine those other countries accounted for very many, except for Australia, which made their own version of an A-body. IIRC, NZ used the Aussie version too, not the U.S. version. It wasn't until the E-body Barracudas that NZ got our version. Sometimes they used the same components though. I remember seeing some strange (to us Yanks!) dash combos down there when they had to make a mirror image of our version.

Yeh, the aussies had their own version of the A Body after the VG (IIRC) So the VH, like my profile pic is a Frankenstein A Body really. VE to VG I think was straight up US A Body, could well be wrong though.

South Africa was a surprisingly big market, Im seeing a lot of US and Aussie based RHD Mopars coming up for sale on the global market.

I'll need to have a closer look at my RHD US built A Body and my RHD Aussie build VH Valiant Charger to see if there is much mechanical difference.

Here is a picture of the glove box badge that is on the right hand drive Barracuda.

Not a 69, but did see this 67 a few years back at the MoPar show here in Minnesota, car was wrapped in vinyl, had a 273 Commando, disc brakes, 7 1/4 rear with a SG and a lot of other funky cool stuff going on especially under the hood....here is a link with more pictures

Thats very cool There is pictures of that still in the UK. Surprised it only had the 7 1/4" I thought they all had the 8 3/4" SG? Maybe it was only the '68's and '69's?
