National speed depot wiring harness from Ebay

Hi, i have a 73' Dart Sport i am replacing the wiring harness in. I ordered and received a wiring harness from National Speed Depot off of ebay. I am wondering if anyone on here has used this wiring harness before?

I am wondering if you still have to run everything through the starter relay? This harness comes with no directions and alot of extras i do not need but may someday if i add them. I am currently just stuck on how i should go about wiring the ignitian. Thank you in advance!

Form the looks of the kit it’s a universal kit. They didn’t provide an kind of a diagram for the harness?

A kit like this will require a good knowledge of an electrical system, a volt meter, soldering iron, shrink tube and a good wiring diagram.

I would contact the seller for a diagram of the harness you got or try spending a little more for a stock replacement harness.

Good luck. If you are VERY good with automobile electrics in older cars, you can probably install this harness. If you are not, I'd return it and buy a specific to your car (non generic) one. M&H harnesses are not cheap, but they are exact replicas of the original. That means the wire colors will exactly match a good wiring diagram. And THAT means you now have good directions to go by. I am pretty good with auto electrics (nowhere near as good as guys like @67Dart273), but I still got M&H harnesses from Year One. I did not feel like fighting the challenge of a non-exact harness.

It looks like the seller has a 97.3 rating on ebay. That's not a very good rating for anybody that sells on ebay. That being said it looks like you have enough in that kit to do most, if not all of the job. If replacing original wiring I would take each harness out and unwrap them one at a time and carefully build each new one to match the old. If you do a search there are some threads on here that will walk you through it. Since the kit was so cheap you should have money leftover for the few extra parts you might need.

The last two “universal” harnesses I used were from Rebel, Rebel Wire .:. Wire Kits for Real Rods

The wire leads were marked with that each wire was for along the lead, you could check to see if they are marked as that could help but it’s not for a novice.

Another thought is they are most likely a copy of another harness so maybe check painless wiring Painless Wiring

and see if they have a diagram on their site that is the same harness as yours. Either way it’s a complete strip out of your old harness and install of the new one. I would check and see if it’s even comparable with you steering column harnesses as most are made to work with GM columns.

More to come as i have a ways to go yet. Will post pics. I apologize on the delayed response, christmas got in the way of progress

This only applies IF your harness is a GM based harness, but here's how I wired my generic harness to the ignition:
IGN SW PWR (RED) TO RED
IGN SW IGN (PINK) TO BROWN
IGN SW ACC (ORANGE) TO BLUE
IGN SW ACC (BROWN) TO BLACK
IGN SW START (PURPLE) TO YELLOW

Bear in mind that many/ most of these leave Mopars out altogether. If you have a fairly stock system, IE let's say you run a 70/ later Mopar regulator. There will not be wiring in there for the green VR to alternator wire. Likewise, the thing likely does not do or say anything about the brown IGN2 that goes from a Mopar ignition switch to the coil + side of the ballast. Another "drop" is usually neutral safety switch wiring

I hope you've downloaded a service manual for the car. You have started doing just what I'd do......go through one circuit at a time and figure it out. Be CERTAIN you don't end up with critical circuits overloaded, EG one example is headlights. You don't want to be truckin' down the road at night and have a fuse end your "headlights experience"
