With the recent passing of Dawn Wells (Mary Ann from Gilligan's Island), it brings up the age old question:

Who was your favorite Gilligan's Island girl and why, Ginger or Mary Ann????

Mary Ann. Cute and the girl next door. Looks great with no make up in a pair of shorts or jeans. Ginger is way too high maintenance for me.

Mrs. Howell did have the most experience. lol

I saw once that they had to be careful on how short they made Mary Ann's shorts back in those days because they were not allowed to show bare belly button on TV, so they had to cover her belly button with the shorts... Barely...

But showing women in bikinis was ok... :realcrazy:

You could almost argue that it was the start of the Daisy Duke shorts...

Tina Louise was by FAR no slouch, but I agree with Roy that she was high maintenance. Everything I've read about her suggests she absolutely hated her role on Gilligan's Island. She refused every movie and every cast reunion trying to distance herself from being typecast. She was miserable during the show's run and really hard to work with......much like her character. I think that's why Dawn Wells remained so well loved. She embraced Mary Ann and loved how the fans recognized her as that. Allan Hale, Jr was the same way. He wore his Skipper hat literally everywhere he went, so children would recognize him and he was always willing to sign autographs and give hugs to fans just walking down the street. Dawn Wells was the same way. Tina Lousie should have been a little more appreciative of that show. It was silly.....but it was supposed to be. It put her on the map for sure. Had she had a different attitude, she could have been loved by fans just as much.

She was a ***** in her older years too. I worked at Circuit City and she came into the Newport Beach location and bought a TV, had it delivered and was uber ***** when they set it up for her. Just a rich washed out actress who thinks she is owed.

I watched Giligans Island faithfully. It was just pure simple entertainment back in a time when shows didn’t have to “teach” anything or worry about offending one group or another.

I saw Dawn Wells in Kanab, UT in 2018. She still looked great and was friendly and personable. What a shame she is gone.

She lived at Redington Beach, Florida for a while, just a couple blocks from my Aunt. Aunt Jody said she was very sweet, and all the people there that knew her, just loved her.

And as most of you know, I hate red heads.

Just the opposite here. I have a thing for redheads. Growing up with two redheaded sisters, I learned how to handle them at a very young age. Pretty simple really. Just say "Yes Ma'am"!! (I still liked Mary Ann better than Ginger)
