Anybody make a homemade exhaust flame thrower?

Unclear on my post. No flames on the Clorox, just a lot of smoke. Wanted to try the fire but lost our nerve...or common sense prevailed....

We used to dump ATF on our tires and leave smoky burnouts when leaving the school parking lot. We put atf on a friends tires and didnt tell him. He spun the car around and almost wiped out a bunch of other cars. Yeah, we didnt do that anymore.

Yeah that’s the idea. I figured that if someone really pissed me off I could back up to their car and melt the front end, LOL
I apologize for this statement it was intended to elicit humor but I guess it backfired, no pun intended

back fired?
no pun intended?

come on man, your on a roll

years ago I did some stand up comedy
Once in a while. I discovered that if someone came to the clubs they were for the most part not offended but when you’re not on stage and you can’t read the audience it definitely a different matter there’s a fine line between humor and saying something that pissed somebody off
A lot of people don’t think of humor as great for a coping mechanism or to make light of a serious or dark situation but it has always worked on me

And there is no way to read intonation online...plus, its so much bigger and audience, someone is bound to get pushed off at something
Thats why I have the signature I do :)

Isn't the purpose to heat the tires ?

I put together a flame thrower- technically a poofer for my Delmont 88. 8ft fireball and concussion you can feel. Pilot flame and nozzle are required to be that high to clear passengers and pedestrians.

What did you use for a nozzle delivery?
The pilot is a halo of copper tube w 1/16” holes spaced 1” and wrapped in steel wool. ‘nozzle’ is the open end of 1/2” pipe. Produces a good effect with a 5 gallon accumulator tank and 20psi.

By far the loudest backfire I have ever heard was a 29 model T... That damn thing sounded like a 50 caliber...
I called my best friends uncle and got the low down on how to run that thing...
He laughed and said he would do that all the time on purpose...

I've seen and done them a bunch of different ways. Some things to keep in mind. What you are looking to build is a "choker flame". I would not suggest doing anything pressurized. The guys that do that are pros. You need a spark source. Those boxes that are sold do work. Basically it will cut the ignition and fire the spark plugs that are drilled into the exhaust tailpipe. At the same time you will need to choke the engine to get the fuel source. Then poof you get the short choker flame. Chambered mufflers don't work well. You'll blow them apart and have issues getting fuel to them.
And since you are creating a crazy fat fuel condition you need to keep up on oil changes. Keep in mind also the fact the stress you put on the engine doing this. I wouldn't do it to an engine you like of have a ton of money in.

This is what can be done with a choker. Built with two coils, a old points distributor, being spun by a heater blower motor, hot heat rage plugs and a old 500ci Caddy.

Thanks for your replies
I found a vid on utube using propane
With the spark plugs and propane just in the inside the tail pipes

MY TIME TO SHINE.

(this works best without muffler so that all of the flammable exhaust gasses have the best chance of igniting with the fuel.) *also will come out with more speed bc of the lessened restriction. that means bigger flames.

Materials:
1. butane torch or some sort of bbq lighter.(this is alternate flamethrower)
2. spark plug (short section of spark plug wire w/boot)
3. some wire.(to run to battery)
4. a 1gal fuel cell.(not plastic, plastic melts)
5. some fuel line (hard line whatever size you want depending on ho big the flame you want)
6. a switch of some kind
7. clickety clack fuel pump

How to:
1. drill hole in exhaust for spark plug to rest.
2. give power to spark plug with wiring to battery or coil/power source big enough to get solid spark.
3. mount fuel cell away from heat and flames
4. run the hard line to exhaust behind where spark plug is so that the exhaust can "mist" the gas instead of it coming out in a stream
5. get your switch and splice in wiring somewhere so you can turn flame on and off.
6. wire in clickety clack fuel pump and add that into switch wiring.
7(alt.) easier way to do this is to get your bbq lighter or butane torch and have a buddy hold it behind the car to light the misted gas on fire. (if your buddies don't have eyebrows already)
