The best things about 2020 are?

-
The best part..hmmm let me think. I generally don't like people so staying away from them is fine with me. I have been working from home since February so, I saved money on gas!! I have only had to change the oil in my truck 2 times this year. I drove my cars a lot this year but, lost some loved ones to Covid...Glad 2020 is almost over!!

Not much if I am being honest, since this is in general discussion I will not turn it political suffice to say hidden agendas are no longer hidden so maybe they can be dealt with.

So I should apologize for securing my future a long time ago? For working 33 years as a firefighter and now I have a great pension. I invested wisely most of my life and have medical insurance and can total a 77k truck and buy a 80k truck to replace it? I am no genius and I’m no liberal. Most people that don’t have **** are from self inflicted ignorant decisions. Where do you fall in? But be glad you made my ignore list.

Guess I fit the most people catagory !

I was lucky to have a dad that worked non stop and made a good impression on me. He did 26 years as cop in the same city then did 10 more for the public defenders office. Drew 2 pensions for 39 years and when he died in 2010, left my mom in good financial shape. I have done the same for my wife. When I die she will draw 100% of my pension till she dies.

I think the best thing is it made a lot of people realize that each of us and this nation are not immune to hardships. And make no mistakes we're not out of the woods yet. People fall back into their overspending, over credited s***** attitude. And then flip out because they're poor planning has bit them in the *** again. I feel for people who have fallen on genuine hardships with no fault of their own. Hard working Americans that are just trying to get by I hope and pray each of us are sensitive and will try to help our neighbors out.

Actually you have life pretty well sorted out..... Variations in how people do and act amongst another however for the working career you served the public, took on dangerous situations, and made it through.... You did have a rough 2020.

But expect that things will be different in 2021. For me I plan on not wearing a Stupid mask, not getting a vaccine, and staying away from people. Mileage will vary from person to person but that my plan.

Everyone stay safe,
JW

Very well put.

2020 wasn't too bad for us.. both of us worked all year.. vacationed in june/july in tenn and kentucky for two weeks, went to the inlaws in upstate ny for two weeks in oct, jamie and rylee went back to the inlaws for 2 weeks in december since rylee is remote learning. they both got quite a bit of skiing in while there., we put the most miles in years on the dart since i finally got it steering like it should, sold a couple projects and bought a modern mustang that i have wanted since they came out in 2005, family and friends are all healthy so i really have nothing to complain about. looking forward to a great new year with new adventures..:)

2020 was mostly great to me and my family. I’m an introvert so nothing really changed for me.

Housing market rates dropped to historic lows. Bought a house for a 2.25 rate. Sold my current home for crazy price tag. Made a killing on that. Upgraded my family’s lifestyle. Paid off a lot of debts.

the masks are great. Cant smell anyones breath. No one talks to me or my wife or kids unless necessary. No cat calls or obnoxious people standing closely. Plus, it’s great when you’re ugly.

I’m a better cook now

Wife became a CNA to take care of our child at home

2021 will be harder. Middle East deployment will suck with all the extra covid rules. Slightly better paycheck. It’s my 3rd tour and I’m done after this one. Come home to new house and relax. Fix the Duster and probably sell it afterwards. Depends on if the kids like riding in it enough.

I agree with what others have said. 2020 was great for me. Though my salary was cut ~10%, being given two furlough days off a months has more than made up or it. Working from home has been awesome. There's nothing like mowing the lawn or going for a run on my lunch break. Mortgage rates are insanely low and the stock market has blown up since April. I'll take it!

I have never used that before but reading his replies to you he is on the brink of being my first! Your a good friend of mine I think the world of you i don't like people talking to my buddies like that. I get his point and where he is coming from but why be so rude and assholeish about it. I'm a positive person and look in the bright side of things but if a guy says he had a bad year just shut the fuxk up and move on no need to call it out if you don't agree! I have always stood by that saying if you can't say nothing good don't say nothing at all!! I think alot more ppl need too try it!! Anyway here's to a better 2021 Roy! Happy new year buddy!!

Oh really. How many years have you had eye surgery, Heart attack while driving with your grandson in the truck. Total my new truck. And then come down with Covid 19????????
Yikes buddy, glad you made it

Yeah I'm pretty sick of these leftists, there actually talking about banning wealth transfer from family inheritance. If those people ever lead any country we are all doomed, oh wait there's people like that coming into office in a few days

Covid and especially the masks and social distancing stuff put a damper on things. But I started a new job with 10k increase and close to home. Round trip for week nrw job don't quite make it one day round trip at old job. Plus I just got a real decent raise. I don't usually go out much as it is, but that option has been pretty much removed. But I'll survive.

Remember this
“ there is no limit on how bad things can get”

My youngest son virtually graduated a mechanical engineer from A&M, was married two weeks later with a cancelled reception, headed to our cabin in north Idaho in lieu of his planned honeymoon in Mexico and started a great job upon return.

For me the best thing is i got thru 2020 ok, still alive.
Had heart surgery, and got thru that, and now in recovery status, at home.

The best part for me was the weather. In northern minnesota where i live we had the nicest summer. Hot and dry. No mosquitoes. It was a little dry, but no complaints. If you are a god fearing, hard working, conservative prepare for a real bad 2021
