Hi all,

I've got a weird one for you all. I was able to make some headway with figuring these plates out but I've been stumped on finding anything for the second one. (see photos of both plates and info attached).

Here's what I have for the first plate. This one says "VEHICLE NO." and is stamped stainless steel. It was glued to the inside of the drivers door jam, which I read was apparently done instead of riveting until 1966. Source: Decoding VIN I.D. 1962 to 1965 Mopar

As far as decoding the tag, I'm pretty confident I got it right thanks to a previous post. This is number is also listed as the cars VIN in the ownership.
Link: 64 canadian Valiant 200, vin #

V3E59139221
V - Valiant/Barracuda
3 - "High Performance" Slant 6 (Had High Performance carb option so makes sense)
E - Convertible
5 - 1965 Year
9 - Windsor Assembly Plant (Canada)
139221 - Sequence number, 139,221 Made

Here is where it gets tricky. The second tag was found screwed into the drivers side inner fender. Where a typical fender tag would usually be located.
Here is what is written on each line:

A-VI-H-27
111
EE
H4B

On the left hand side you can barely make out what used to be labels for each of the rows. I think the bottom one says "TRIM CODE".

All replies appreciated. Even if you don't know how to decode it I would love to know what it originally looked like so I can try to clean it up.

Thank you all for your time!

Jack

The vehicle VIN tag is the same as 65 64 to 66 A-body cars.
EE stands for Dark blue metallic body and inside upper body panels. ( above door panel)
H4B stands for interior class high, 4 is buckets seats I think or bench seat and B is blue interior.

I think you will find that the 3 in the vin is not for a high performance slant 6. It is for the high price line model with a slant 6.

You are right I misread that sheet.
Makes a little more sense lol. Should've known Slants were NOT about performance at least back then lol.

This makes sense!

The car was originally a dark blueish/turquoise. Has a dark blue interior as well.

My car has the bench seats not buckets but they are vinyl with a biscuit stitch. Plus the car has carpet not a rubber mat. So interior class high makes sense as well.

Thank you so much. Only a few more numbers to go!

65 Valiant Custom 100 vert......We need pics of the car. I had one several years ago... check out my garage.

Sorry for the slow reply. Slowly putting the car back together after repairing the rot. Pics below of car before, during and after painting . All in all did two front fenders, two quarters and some small work on doors. Welcome to Canadian cars lol. See last photo for a pic of the trim. As far as I know Custom 100 was a Canadian only trim. Hope to have the car back on the road this summer, next job is dropping the motor & trans back in

Cheers,

Jack Curran

Hi all,

I just saw this and thought I could help out a bit, as I also have a 1965 Valiant Custom 100 convertible and a hardtop coupe. You had the VIN tag mostly correct:

V3E59139221
V - Valiant - short wheelbase
3 - High Price Range - 6 cylinder
E - Convertible
5 - 1965 Year
9 - Windsor Assembly Plant (Canada)
139221 - Sequence number, 39,220th car off the Windsor assembly line that year.

Here's the fender tag info:

MODEL: A-VI-H-27

A= 1965
V1 = Valiant short wheelbase
H = High Price Range = Custom 100
27 = Convertible body style

BODY No.: 111 = 111th version of this body style made.

PAINT CODE: EE = Huron Blue (Canadian Equivalent to USA DD Medium Blue Poly)

TRIM CODE: H4B = High Grade Bench Seat, Blue

The fender tag should look like in the attached photo (I found a photo online of one from a 1965 Chrysler Windsor):

Overdrive thank you so much! Nice to know that the fender tags & the vin all match up. This thread should hopefully be a big help to anyone else with Canadian Valiants.
Cheers!
