340 block

Condition and completeness is everything. Bore size? Main caps included? Damage in the form of cracks, broken motor mount or bell housing bosses? Rust inside and out? Any sleeves? I've seen decent blocks be as high at $1K.

All standard bore been in a garage for 40 years so it will need boring im sure main caps are there and cam I have the heads off of it as well

I had real sales of two blocks and a short block late last year, both blocks were $500-700 each short block was $1200.

I paid $275 for this last year. It's 30 over.

I'm paying $50 so I knew i was in the clear but now i know i better pay the old guy more so I dont feel guilty
Don't pay too much....until you get it to a machine shop you don't know what you got!! If it checks out good then give the old guy what you think is fair.

Bargains are out there. I sold one needing a sleeve for $40. Didn't want to haul it to my next house.

Damn, wish I could find one even close to that.I've been looking for over a year now and can't find one for under $500.00..I had 2 but sold them because some people really needed one,for $400 each..

Don’t be afraid to post the vin number from that block here or lost and found. You may help reunite and engine and car!

I paid $300 a year or so ago. Std bore 71 block with caps in the ballpark of date code for my Demon

Everything is always for sale. I was gonna build another cranky 318 (kinda) but couldn't pass up another one luckily I have a couple in cars already but hate parting with something ya may need to fix one of the other cars

Watch for rust in cylinders from sitting a round in storage. Bare block typically have some.

What might seem like surface rust might not clean up at 30 over.

odds are this will be going .060 and acquiring a stroker crank we have one that's 340 based 422ci yet to be started but will probably build another one with a bit bigger cam than the last one since this one will have a ln A833 behind it rather than an auto BUT these cylinder walls have minimal rust and I mean barely any to.catch with finger nail which is shocking being in a barn in Wisconsin

Before going that far overbore, I would sonic check it. It's the only way to know you're in the clear.

if it will clean up a 0.30 over why not just do that?
