Freds 73 Scamp restore on a budget

-
Dream list sort of thing, but if you could get a veneer that matches your console, and covered the factory faux wood on the gauge cluster (and door panels?) it would all match. Furthermore, it would have the "exotic" look, like a 70's Jag or 60's Imperial!

Sounds like a plan, you drive, I navigate. No wait, you remember how that turned out last time. Perhaps we better let you drive and navigate, I will just drink and heckle! Road trip! Woo Hoo! That is one seriously sexy Scamp! It has been so cool watching the transformation. Beautiful just beautiful!

Still darkening the wood to match the factory wood grain on the dash and doors but will still be a little redder no mater what I do. Not my good point working with wood and stain.

Yea but in a wood stain I have no idea what to do. I got the closet stain I could find but if I stain the crap out of it, it darkens up enough so it looks close I'm hopping that will work.

C'mon up, we got lots of beer stores, plenty of choices, extra room, hell, you can use my shop if ya need to!
That would be a blast Randy and stay up all night telling past stories.
Yea someday when all the crap is over.

looking at it after a few drinks
I don't know if that was a good thing or a bad thing, but sometimes the best idaes come to a person after a few drinks, so I'm goin' with that one. I am down to the bottom of the first 4 fingers of whiskey after a shitbag day to end a shitbag week, so come on up, srew the border and covid 19, bring Sublime and Hemi, I'll make room for ya, let's do some drinkin'. Time fer a refill! Wife's makin nachos, yeeeeehawwww!

:rofl:You fit right in and the nachos are my favorite.

You need to add some courtesy lights and a heated/chilled cup holder.:poke: Then there's the wireless cellphone charger and navigation......

Restore is done and been on the road since last spring and started it in November of 2018 and on the road in June of 2020 along with my sons plane that we repainted that came in my garage in December of 2019 and my car came out before the plane but was in the air not long after.
Just some highlights on everything to finish this restore and the rest is just tinkering around from here on.
Want to thank all you guys for your encouragement and ideas as I worked to get everything done. You all have been more help than you can imagine in keeping my dead butt busy so cheers my friends hope to see all of you in a car show someplace.

A true car guy. You saw your vision and did the work. Having the ability to do paint and body put you a step above most enthusiast in the hobby......

Now go out and buy another one.... Wash, rinse, repeat....

Let me stop you right there...... You need one of these in your life.... It will keep you young and it's either that or a young woman and I would suggest the 2 wheel thrill myself lol..

I already got the two wheeled thing covered, when I mentioned the young curvy thing my wife looked me square in the eye and replied “if she can cook and vacuum go for it” A clear sign we have been married for to long.
