I need to install new reverse light sockets in my 72 Demon, as they weren’t there when I bought the car. I have a random unconnected wire coming from the loom that houses the wiring harness for the tail lights that I’m assuming is the hot wire for the reverse socket but I will need to check to be sure first. However I was wondering if anyone can identify where the ground wire for the socket connects or should be tied in to. Thanks

The socket should ground through the housing and there should only be one wire to feed the bulb.
Check the random wire with a test light before you hook any socket in. There might be an issue somewhere else. Or may be someone just needed a couple sockets and "snip" !

So I’ve already purchased two reverse light sockets and they look similar to the one posted here. They both seem to have a negative wire running from them.
I was aware they ground to the housing, but maybe it’s an extra ground wire for good measure? I’ve had issues with my original tail light housing wiggling and rattling loose

A extra ground wire is a good idea. Many of the lights on 5hese old cars fail because of a bad ground. I have a wire or two soldered to sockets to provide a good ground.
