Back in the summer of 2019 me and my best good friend decided to go partners on a Demolition Derby car. What bedder fodder than a 1973 Mercury Colony Park Wagon!?

Progress has been slow as the venue has been killed indefinitely due to covid, but this will happen, even if we have to tow it to the desert and smash it into rocks with only our friends watching.

Does he intend on saving the mastodon 460 for another project after the carnage?

If it lives we'll figure something out for it, even if it means just offing it on CL or giving it away for free. I did just buy a brand new RTR billet distributor from Summit that I'm hoping will live to see sale to a happy new owner, lol.

Those are fine engines. It deserves saving if it lives. They can make a gobload of bottom end torque real easy.

I agree. If i was a ferd guy I'd be looking to build something badass based on a 351C, Boss 302 or 429/460.

Come get my Cleveland. I have the perfect one. 70 M code. Factory 4V engine. Closed chamber 4V heads. I have the whole shebang.

I've got no business taking on any more projects until this is done along with the sad looking Barracuda you see hiding behind the wagon. But I'll bring you some beers next time I'm in Georgia visiting the ol' Battle Axe's fam bam and you can tell me all about the 70 M Code and more importantly your hemi pickup!

460 Fords are the real deal. Read this article with an open mind.

10 Reasons You’re Better Off With a Big-Block Ford

Still not going to walk away from BB mopars though!

My problem would be finding a reasonably priced vehicle that i liked enough to put one in that is also in my price range. Even when i look at late 60's Rancheros the price is more than i want to spend. Hell, I tried to get excited about Mavericks but even that turned me off, pricewise. Being a lifelong Mopar lover if I have that kind of money to blow on a car it's going to be a B-body.

One of the coolest vehicles in the old shop i worked on was a 56 Ford stepside with a 460 tunnel ram that fit under the hood.
