Depressing movies that you only watched once....

-
Okay, maybe to be accurate, how about Depressing movies that you have seen.
I love movies. Some are sad but in a good way.
I want to see what you think is a Depressing movie.
Tonight, Less Than Zero was on. Robert Downey Jr played a drug addict deeply in debt that resorted to being a gay prostitute to pay off what he owes. In the end, he dies in what is assumed to be heart failure.
I've never seen it but....Passion of the Christ....Two hours of Jesus being abused and tortured? Really?
Oh yeah...Leaving Las Vegas too. Nicolas Cage gets fired and moves to Las Vegas to drink himself to death.

Gattaca with Ethan Hawk. The entire movie feels dystopian and sad.
Repo Men with Jude Law.
Red Dawn, the original.
What is on your list?

Watched “Passion” when it came out in the theatre. So many errors the movie was really a joke. The only part that was close to being correct was the beating scenes. They beat that Man (Christ) near to death. It was a miracle he didn’t bleed out before he ever made it to Golgotha.

Saw “Less Than Zero” in the theatre because my girlfriend at the time and her best friend were into that type of movie. I wasn’t impressed. My wife had never seen it, so we bought it on PPV or something. She didn’t like it.

Saw “Red Dawn” when it came out and have seen it several times on TV. Didn’t depress me. That kind of movie isn’t made for giggles.

As far as just straight junk movies, Driller Killers is at the top of the list. Don’t ask. It’s THAT a bad.

Hamburger Hill
Platoon
Full Metal Jacket
Zero Dark Thirty
The Hurt Locker
War (I think that was TV only and it was good, but the book was better)
American Sniper (kinda cheesy but a good movie and the book was better)
Lone Survivor (the book was better)
The movie about the Spec Op’s guys that they had to hire Tier One guys to do it because they couldn’t find stunt men to so it...can’t think of the name of that movie but that was good.
Argo, because it’s half *** based on a real event, plus it has one of the great movie lines of all time...”Argo F*#k yourself”...it makes sense when you watch the movie.

My wife had me watch "My sisters keeper". If you have children its the saddest most depressing thing I have ever watched.

dude, way off collar, but ever seen "let me in" ?
now that is a sad movie

Passion of the Christ. At one point it was so gruesome and graphic, that I walked out. Couldn't handle it. I know the movie was trying to make a point, but nobody needs to see chunks of flesh ripped out of Christ's back by metal hooks at the end of a rope/chain.

A Star is Born, the newest version with Bradley Cooper / Lady Gaga. Good movie, good acting, storyline keeps you engaged. But at the end the movie rips your heart out and stomps on it. I left the theater just feeling like I got punched in the gut. So sad.

That was probably much less violent on the screen than what happened in real life.

The movie where the demon-possesed girl's head spins around, and she doesn't fall down dead. That was one scary movie when it came out........ such a long time ago.

Oh you said depressing, not scary. I got no answer for that, cuz when I see the movie going that way; That's too much like inviting health problems.

Now what was the name of that scary movie........
Exorcist! yeah that's the one; 1973

The movie Fury .....

Because good tanks were destroyed that could have been good restorable rides.

And some other reasons I can't say here.

I don't get depressed, anyone who gets depressed should look around and see and the work and **** that needs done around the house. That project car ain't going to fix itself, that's what's really depressing!!!

"Passion of the Christ", I saw it in theater. Grew up in church, I've read through the bible multiple times, but seeing the portrayal of the crucifixion on the big screen was incredibly impactful.

As emotional as I get reading the Word, I have not been able to bring myself to watch it. Maybe one day.

I cried three times in my adult life that I can remember.
The First time was in about 72 when I had to leave my second girlfriend on account of she was a fornicator. I was ready to marry her.
The Second was in about 79 when I pinched a nerve in my back on a Friday night and laid on the coffee table in my apartment until Monday morning, when they carried me into the chiropractors office.I cried pretty much the whole weekend.
The Third time was in about 94, after I got Baptized, and when I read about the day Christ was murdered. My heart just about broke for Him.

I did not cry when Mum nor Dad died, nor for my brothers,
nor when I was passing kidney stones, altho it hurt mightily.
Yesterday, I slipped on ice, both legs going out simultaneously. On the way down I was thinking how best to take this, and decided flat on my back was better than on my tail; so I threw myself backwards, and promptly smashed the base of my skull on the steel bumper of the worktruck. I mean SMASHED it.
As I lay there among the stars, I said a little prayer, and began to ponder if I was gonna be a quadriplegic. But, as I wiggled my various body parts, I chuckled and said to satan, not today buster, not today.
I did not cry, altho it hurt mightily.
I took two hours off, went home and had a powernap, then went back and finished my shift. This morning I am fine.
By tomorrow morning,I expect it will be as if it never happened. As always, I thanked Yahuwha for this strong healthy body, and how well He takes care of me. This is the God I am committed to. And this is why I confess Yahuwsha's Name before men, paying it forward, so that He will confess my name to His Father, that they continue to take care of me, all the allotted days of my life. I mean I SMASHED that noggin hard. I had no idea a human being could even survive such a hit.

If you have seen it, I'm sure you agree for multiple reasons

I'm really super happy you've only cried three times in your life. To be a stranger of such sorrow must really be a tremendous blessing. I'm glad you're so much more super human than the rest of us. You must really be livin your life just perfect to be so blessed. Congratulations.

is there a scene in there where all you see is a car in the mist and then 2 or 3 muzzle flashes?

or am i thinking of the fog?

never could keep the two apart

What's wrong with you?
I just told you how emotional it was for me to read about the torturing of Jesus. Of the Tremendous sacrifice He made to make a way for the Gentiles to to be able to enter Heaven.
I told you I was not given to crying.
But I cried when I read the story.
And you judge me superhuman?
Quit being bitter and or resentful.stop the BS.
I already told you how to get rid of sickness disease and infirmities.
I already told you your purpose in life.
I already told you how to live under God's wings of protection.
I already told you we are to be a peculiar people.
And I told you the name of the Son is not Jesus, nor Lord, but that it is Yahuwsha. And the Bible says that you are the HighPriest of your Family.

one more time;
John Chapter 14
12 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater [works] than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father.13 And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.14 If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do [it].15 If ye love me, keep my commandments.

And I already told you that if your Faith is not great enough,to do what James says to do; namely
to go find two brothers;

James 5:14
Is any sick among you? let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord:
God is no respecter of persons and cannot lie. When God says a thing you can take it to the bank.
And most of all;
Deuteronmy Seven
Know therefore that the LORD thy God, he is God, the faithful God, which keepeth covenant and mercy with them that love him and keep his commandments to a thousand generations;

LORD is KJV code
for YHWH,
aka YAHUWAH
A thousand generations is like 8000 years, which is longer than the Earth will stand from Creation to Judgement Day, so as far as we are concerned.... forever.
Who are those that love Him?
John 14:21
He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him.
How many Commandments are there?
Yeah Ten, if you break one you are guilty of transgressing the whole Law.
What is the Fourth?
Yeah; Remember the Sabbath. In order for God to make a Commandment for us to Remember it. It implies that it was once Lost, taken away, or otherwise Forgotten. I submit to you that Constantine changed it and WE, all of us Christians, forgot about it. But as for me, I have remembered, and living the BLESSED life is the PROOF, so kiss off.... brother. You could be living the same life ..... brother.

LOL. To some of us this is "dark comedy"

Dark or Black comedy? Depressing to me and maybe after all these years I didn't know that I didn't like these type movies..

Midnight Cowboy, 1969. Lots of awards. For me depressing.

"Pulp Fiction, Pulp Fiction is a 1994 American neo-noir black comedy crime film" (Wikipedia). My sons liked it. I only watched part of it. Maybe it gets better....

You could be living the same life ..... brother.

Very arrogant to ASSUME the life you live is somehow better than mine. And you say "I" judged? Careful now.
