Edelbrock—Layoffs

-
Is the electric car going to be affordable?.....Cost of recharging?,,,,,,How long to recharge battery if you are on a trip....along with the range of the vehicle....

Personally I think the consumer will have the last say on what is going to be made...

The US government declared the three wheel ATV illegal...where was the mighty constitution back in 88 when they came for my Honda 250R

I would imagine heavy/commercial vehicles will continue to run on diesel. Time is money for them, cannot afford to spend time on the charger every 30 min 'cause the battery went flat....so gasoline may still be available if diesel is, with less choice in octane ratings.
Folks in all countries that enjoy this hobby should be contacting their politicians & TELLING them that killing this great hobby is 'not on'. The squeaky wheel gets the oil....& we need to be veeeeery squeaky. If these politicians had any brains, they would see that this hobby...& it's continuation....provides a huge number of jobs.
Jobs mean employees & employers, both pay taxes, & govts need tax....

Edelbrock totally got bought out by a big conglomerate. End of story. They're doing all this not to save money but to make money that's what big conglomerates do.. profit margin will dictate their every move from here forward...
As far as turning this into a political discussion about the new administration raising minimum wage or Al Gore's bonehead statement that should all be taken to the political forum..
Because the big manufacturers are trying to go all electric in the next 14 or 15 years doesn't mean that day one when the very start of producing that we're not going to see drag racing at the drag strip with muscle cars... They're not going to instantly throw 2030 gas powered cars in the dumpster in 2035.... Let's get a grip here...

No, you're the bonehead, dummy. Edelbrock acquired the Comp Group a year ago. Stop bein stupid.

Edelbrock Acquires COMP Performance Group

That would be hard to believe. I’ve owned 3 wheelers as late as 2004.
I just sold my 200X 3 wheeler to my brother last year. He still has it and rides it. 3 wheelers are for sale all the time on marketplace, etc.

Get real not in your, or your children's lifetimes...

How many Edelbrock employees do you think are working for minimum wage??? Frankly I'm tired of subsidizing for profit companies who don't even pay two full time workers enough to live on...
I'm tired of subsidizing profit companies also . this country is $14 T in debt and growing every second . Smilin' Joe ain't helpin' a bit .

The advent of electric vehicles has side effects . One : wicked increase in petroleum prices . Two : passing laws to prevent i.c. engines from highways . Three : taxes on motor fuels willg o so high that the public will be forced to buy electric . Four : no aftermarket support for i.c. engines . Five : taxes to pay for charging stations nation wide . I could go on but I won't .

The oil/gas industry has a lot of power and influence. Look at how loud they bitched about Ethanol.

I had the same conviction. I just set the bar a little higher. When I did smoke. I would say the day $10.00 won’t buy a pack. I quit! Well it took double pneumonia and 20 days in the hospital. But I quit after 38 years in January 2013.
Good for you . I share your experience . MY wife is dying from c.o.p.d. It's aweful .

Sorry to hear that. My stepdad died of COPD complications. It's like drowning when you can't breathe.

Irrational already makes a hybrid , Petercar is too . They will go along until diesel fuel is $20.00 a gallon .

Back about ten years ago, I kept having this reoccurring dream night after night. I dreamed I had to ride my horse and lead another with a pack saddle 15 miles to the grocery store and then back. Took all day, and it could be cold in Missouri. Guess I was hungry!?
I could do that today BUT at almost 73, I have to have a mounting block, or stump, or gate to get on!!! Pitiful.

well, let me play "lawyer" for a moment.

the U.S. Constitution has a rule that the government can't pass a law making something illegal today that was "legal" yesterday. it's called the prohibition against "ex post facto" laws. that's why when Bill Clinton got the assault weapons ban passed in the mid-1990's, that law only outlawed the "future manufacture and sales" of the weapons covered in the law. the law did NOT make it illegal to own any of the listed firearms if you owned them "before" the law passed.

it will be the same for internal combustion vehicles. assuming we still have our Constitution by 2035. if General Motors says it will stop "manufacturing" IC passenger cars by the 2035 model year, that will NOT make any prior GM vehicles illegal to own or operate. it just means GM will not be producing any new IC vehicles. so you are 100% correct. stopping production does not mean a BAN on IC vehicles. but obviously when the U.S. moves into the world of "electric only new vehicles" the pressure and screws on IC vehicles will mount.

Oh that is true. BUT, the government could outlaw the refining of anything into a motor fuel and....you still have your car only now it's a lawn ornament.

Then another guy gets in and opens everything right back up, gas is 2.30 a gallon again, LOL

Switch to ethanol. The farmers aren't going to quit producing corn.
