Why hydraulic? You must not want to make any power.

You did check Hughes, right?
You could try this guy:

Although if you're running a mechanical fuel pump (if not, you'll be just fine), you'll need the adapter from Hughes since these are magnum cores:
Hughes Engines
And since they are regrinds, you'll need longer pushrods due to the reduced base circle.

When i had mine made at oregon cams, i had to buy a new core on rockauto and send it out,

Do you not have a core? Just send that to Ken at Oregon. H'll grind it however you want. Put a want add in the for sale section if you don't. I'm sure somebody has one. If I had one, I'd give it to you.

You can go that route but if the lobes have any flaking its no good for a regrind thats what happened to me.
On a non hydraulic flat tappet it doesnt matter, but i guess on a roller camshaft its a different story.

What? They can grind the flakes out IF they aren’t too deep, or they can weld the lobe.

Cores are so hard to get right now if you have a core, even if it has issues as long as it’s in one piece it can be saved.

Call Jim at Racer Brown. When I talked to him a few weeks ago he had cores.

there is a shortage of factory LA hydraulic roller cams? I think I have 2 cores I pulled out of truck motors from the picknpull. They’re sitting outside in a bucket of rainwater.

how aggressive can they regrind a factory cam?

I don't know about hydraulic rollers, but if you have steel core, they can only grind it within a fairly small tolerance. That's mostly because the cores are roughed out then hardened...if you grind too much away, the hardness goes away.

A friend waited several months on completing his 455 build due to cam core shortage. His builder told him the company that supplies the cores to aftermarket cam companies has committed all of their capacity to an OEM. He was finally able to find an individual who had several cams saved for personal projects and one was a a very similar grind, and the guy was willing to sell it. His builder says there is no solution for the shortage in the near term and is grabbing all the used cores he can get.

I think Hughes is having the same problem...no cores. I've had a cam on order with Hughes for some time now. Currently on hold with my engine build, waiting on the cam.

all Hughes cams come from Howards. That is who i would call.
Hydraulic roller... yuck...

Why do you say that? Because of the hardening? If that's so, you need to talk to Ken Heard. He says Mopar hardened their camshafts almost all the way to the core, so hardening is not an issue. He oughtta know.

Hes the one that told me lol. To check if there's any flaking on the roller camshaft and if there is, i woud need a new core. Thats why i still have the OEM Camshaft behind my guitar amp lol.

Just something I noticed, Rock Auto doesn’t even list a cam and lifter kit for the roller cam engines anymore. I was just looking at that last week and now they recently took it off their site. Wow. unbelievable.

WTH??? He didn’t offer to weld the lobe?? That’s strange, especially since cores are so hard to get right now.

Also, if you are flaking the core, your spring loads are too low. The roller is hammering the lobe to death. A steel core will track where a cast iron core flakes.
