I have converted manual 4 wheels drum 65 barracuda to a 4 wheel disc setup. I have a wilwood master cylinder with manual front rear adjusting valve. I get no pedal at all. I had a 15/16 bore on it and it was even worse then the 1’’ bore on it now. It has all new lines and every piece in system is new. I am at a total loss Any body with brains care to help me out... Frank

I have a customer and we've been trying to get his willwood stuff working for some time now. We've got the front brakes working fine but have had a nightmare with the back brakes. Also the angle the booster puts that master cylinder at is a nightmare as well it's almost a 45° angle. And those little Allen bolts to take the cover off every single time what a pain in the butt... we're actually ditching all that for a factory setup that's much more user friendly....

Hey Frank , some questions you bench bled the master cyl, I would presume all the caliper bleeders are at the top ? Pictures would help .cheers

I just installed a Wilwood on my 69 Dart - had a couple of issues I determined or believe were the problems and it works great now. I used a MC for an earlier Mustang.

too much fluid
had to bleed, bleed, and bleed some more - it seemed excessive and I was sure I did a good job to start - however after numerous times all is good.
adjusted rear drums what was probably where I should have to start (all new parts - took drums and had them turned to make sure round)

Yes bench bled.....bleeders are at top I will try to get pics
Ok the wilwood is coming off and going a different route. Car has MBM discs from Mancini on the front. The new 8 3/4 rear has GM metric discs on it . On Monday I am talking to Mancini and dr diff. Most likely go with dr diff pedal ratio was figured last night and is 6 to 1

Might need a bigger bore MC. I have the larger 2.75 caliper pistons on the front and i had to use 1 1/8.

where the rear disk also from MBM ?

what did MBM suggest for a master.

When going rear disk you need to have a proven matched setup with your front brakes and prices master cylinder setup.

worth extra money to go with dr diff. For the time, effort and parts you’ve thrown at this Dr Diff would put you met ahead.

btw, did you buy that disk rear end from FL or NY ?

The guy that built tho new rear end 8. 3/4 did everything he does on everyone he builds . GM metric calipers and disc I wrote to Mancini on Tuesday or Wednesday to talk about master and MBM brakes Never got back to me

I know you said you bench bled it, but are you sure you used the full travel of the pushrod? Did you use the Wilwood bench bleeding lines or make your own? Its not an MC size issue. You've gotta have air in there...

I'd call Wilwood and ask their opinion... they do have good tech support. Unrelated to Wilwood, I recently had some sticky caliper pistons on my 4-piston Tundra calipers and I would have sworn the master cylinder was going bad... the pedal went almost to the floor. Still makes no sense to me -- but taking the calipers off and cleaning them fix everything. Made it like new.

Oh, I assume this master has built-in residual pressure values for disk brakes? (2psi?)
