Superstock oil pan for 340

-
Believe me I am in no way any where close to knowing what I am talking about I have just been a fan of Stock and S/S for a long time and read a lot about it. I do have a few friends that compete in the classes it’s always interesting to hear them talk about their combos. Like this past year it’s always great to see the Mopars do well in those classes.
I am very new to this and see now in the book that you are indeed correct, I was mistaken on this aspect. I believe my confusion came when I had an aluminum carrier housing for the 8 3/4 and realized it could not be used in stock, but was legal in super stock. Thanks for correcting this post, I certainly have a lot to learn and do not wish to be putting incorrect information out there for others. The rule book can be quite something to decipher.

Windage tray but due to having a stroker now I can't use one. I have been running a Moroso pan for many years now. I had a Milodon pan years ago with the center tube for the center link I actually had to have the tube lowered because my car sits so low. I went to the Moroso because having to take the center link out to remove the motor was a pain the Milodon looked cool hanging down though. S/S Dusters are cool !!! what class are you going to run? IA., JA., KA. ? What year Duster? 73 and newer I believe run KA or LA with the low compression 340 or 360, higher compression 340 I thru J. Some of the 340 Stock and S/Sers are really flying now!!! Theres a D/SA 340 Duster here in the North east that's been in the 9s, yes I am a big fan of them!

That's a fantastic lookin car!

There is at least 6 stockers will dana 60 under them in Vegas....even a 65 Beleveder 273 with a 4 speed....

What pan are you racers using to keep oil away from the crank? My superstock Duster will be ready by spring. My good friend, the previous owner, and builder, suggested a deeper pan than the Kevco unit that is currently on the car to get the oil further from the crank. We will be able to do this now as we are cutting and boxing the k frame, to be able to remove the pan without lifting the engine. This had not been done in the past because the car has been raced in stock eliminator also where this mod is not legal.
Which Kevco pan are you using ? I've used several of the 8qt w/ kick out with good luck. I 've added crank scrapers from crankscrapers.com. I thought they made good power and did a fair job of controlling the oil. They aren't excessively deep which worked well for me. Before wheelie bars on my duster I tore up a milidon pan on a big wheelie.

I will also look into crank scrapers, thank you.

I would recommend making your own crank scraper. I bought and paid for one, waited for over a year, and got nothing but lies and invalid tracking numbers. Finally got reimbursed.

I think Kevko and JR Pans will both make minor mods to one of their stock pans to suit your needs.

Lots of complaints about the Ray Charles welding on Milodon pans.

Crank scrapers is good to deal with. They are reasonably affordable.
He cuts them so they are on the ball park, and then you trim to your needs or spend more and get the plastic 0 clearance model.
Husband and wife business, good service their and nice workmanship.

a small block chev scrapper will fit, bore spacing is the same. need to trim to fit rods and drill new bolt pattern on it. do no t have it super tight to the crank, need room for oil to lube cam lobes. usually .060 is best.

What I liked about crank scrapers is that he has a model specifically for a sbm with a stroker crank which fits better in some key areas.

I have several brand new early Milodon Pans that I would sell about 10 years
old = they were much better then!

You may know our cars.

you can have a competent engine builder custom make one for your motor for not much more than 100 bucks. That's what i did.
The Mopar shop that did my stroker fabbed me one.

Awesome news John, do you have the pickup also? My Duster used to be Gregg's car.

I don't think I paid more than a hundred bucks for mine and that includes one for each side of the motor, but my labour to trim is free. I do my own motors except machining so I like to know what's in there. Just sharing my experience with this company.
I'm sure there are others.
