So last year I ran into some issues with my PayPal account and refuse to use PayPal again.

I'm cleaning out the shop and I would like to list some items for sale, but now that I don't have PayPal, I'm wondering how practical this is.

Are there any alternatives to China pay?

There are several cash transfer apps in widespread use now: venmo, Apple Pay, cashapp, zelle. These are all secure ways to send money for free or, if you want to pay instantly, for a small sum. Cheaper than PayPal, and less hassle.

All that may be true but i will bet you the great majority of the American population has never heard of those payment sites.
I never have, as I'm not a millennial.
Everyone's heard of Pay Pal.
Whatever problem you might have had with them in the past, probably best just to suck it up, and accept Pay Pal.
Open up a new account with them, just exclusively for parts sales payment.

I have used PP since it started. I transfer money to my cking acct often. For free usually in one day. I don’t understand the issues people have with it?

I've taken money orders or you could even accept personal checks, and ship AFTER they cleared (usually 10 days). Slows the paying/shipping process but it works. I've not had any problems with Pay Pal ever, but that's mute because you did and you are moving on.

Every issue I've ever had....people refusing to send part.....whatever, Paypal backed me up on. I got no complaints. I recommend two possible alternatives. Both take more time. One, a POSTAL money order. Not one from the 7/11 or the Mini Food. POSTAL. Two. A personal check. Yup. A personal check is a written CONTRACT enforceable by LAW. I also recommend staying with Paypal though.

Paypal is great - for the buyer.

Dispute time, they always side with the buyer and the seller is out the part AND the cash, even when the part was as promised.

USPS money order for sales.

That way you can sign it over to cover the postage and if it is a fake, they will let you know before you lose your part.

I really have to disagree. PP has never kept my money and my parts. I have had people a time or two file a dispute. Both times they made the buyer return ship the part to me and then after I had my part back I issued a refund. I venture to say I have had more PP transactions than most here. It’s the best game in town.

venmo seems legit. Not sure of their origin. If I want a part bad enough and its the right price, Id sign up for venmo and buy from a seller if thats the only way im gonna get my part. Might be worth researching?

I had a buyer from here at FABO try to say the part I sent was not what he agreed to buy. He started a claim with PayPal. Pay Pal put a hold on the money he had paid into my account. I made a copy of the FABO sale ad with the photo and copies of the conversations in the form of FABO private messages and sent that to Pay Pal. Pay Pal settled the dispute in my favor and released the funds. So Pay Pal does not always side with the buyer. But you have to have records and evidence to back up your case or an unscrupulous person can rip you off.

I think the key is KNOW who you're doing business with. That's tough when you're looking for hard to find parts and some joe blow across the country has them.

Venmo!
Its a decent alternative and
Its instantaneous.
Just make sure you keep your Setting on "Private", otherwise any of your contacts that also have Venmo can see who you bought or what you were paid.

Sooooo, Venmo is owned by PayPal. All the money transfer apps are owned by one of the larger banks or companies.

And PayPal is not a Chinese company, or even majority owned by Chinese businesses. Just fake news there.

I’ve been using PayPal for over a decade now. Have had a few disputes, as both a buyer and a seller, and PayPal did a good job every time. Maybe not perfect, but hey, nobody is. But they were fair, and that’s the important part.

If you are afraid of paypal, you can always call the bank and do a bank to bank transfer. Western Union refused to send money from NY to PA to buy my notch. Claiming fraud was possible between those states

I have heard of a few problems, but it's still the best show in town. I will agree that they always seem to agree with the buyer. I have had several people demand refunds through PayPal without ever contacting me. And in every case, they lied. It is always, "Not as described" or "Doesn't fit". Lies in each case. I issued the refund after I got the part back. I will still use PayPal. It works fine 99.9% of the time for me.

I agree 100% and I've been using Paypal since 1999. Without fail, I've gotten my money back on every "bad" deal and they were less than I can count on one hand. I use my gut. If I sense something funny, I don't do it.

Biggest problem hands down you will find is most people use PayPal....you don’t accept it people will just pass and move on. I only do PayPal or cash in person, I missed out on some good deals and also some sales because a couple people didn’t use PayPal and had other forms of electronic payment, I don’t want to mess with that when PayPal works just fine. I sell a lot locally on FB marketplace and never understood why all these people want to pay Venmo and pick up the stuff in person....cash is king and prefer it when I can, otherwise it’s PayPal.

Right, me either. Somebody doesn't use Paypal, I don't sell and I don't buy. Not anymore. I used to.

Pay Venmo and pick up in person,,,,Maybe because they want it known that they are not carrying cash so they don’t get robbed. Not that you would do that, but there are bad people out there.

depends where you are selling i guess. me personally, if you don't take paypal and aren't close enough for me to just drive over and purchase the part i'm not buying from you. most things i purchase lately are things i "want" not "need" so maybe that makes a difference. i just can't be bothered going and buying a money order, mailing it, waiting days/ a week (even slower lately) for the seller to get and cash the money order, then the seller sending the part and having to wait god knows how long for that to get here... i can save days maybe even a week buy using paypal.. there is a guy that posts quite a few things here for sale that will only take money orders.. he has had a few things over the years that i'd have bought if he took paypal.. did he eventually sell? who knows but the ads were up for quite a while . i'd have bought the day it was posted.. at the same time i really didn't "need" the stuff i just "wanted" it and wound up finding it elsewhere and by someone that was either close to home and i could go pick it up or someone that took paypal and the deal was done..

as a seller i can't be bothered with a money order either because then i have to mark a part as pending, wait god knows how long for the damn money order, get to the bank on a day off if i get the time to cash it. too much a pain in the *** in my opinion. then you have these crazy buyers who after i took the part off the market for however long waiting for the money order decide they don't want the part any more.... paypal me and i have the money instantly and your part goes out that day or the following morning depending what time in the day you send the money.

i have used vemo and zelle but prefer paypal for online purchases..
