Looking for information pertaining to the interior of a ’64 Barracuda. I’m doing a complete interior restoration. Interior was stripped out years ago by the PO.

What goes under the carpet in the cargo area? Some threads seem to indicate that on later models the carpet was just glued to the sheet metal. On the ’64 the sheet metal pieces are too irregular to do this. Could it be just plywood or fiberboard? If so, how thick. Someone must have refurbished an early Barracuda and replaced the cargo area carpeting.

I will be looking for a source for the chrome molding that goes around the perimeter of the cargo area.

Also looking for sun visors.

There is a series of (7) small holes (~1/16” diameter) in the vertical area behind where the rear seat goes. They seem to be in line horizontally. There are also (2) other slightly larger holes lower on the same vertical surface. See attached photo. Does someone know the purpose of these holes?

Not an interior part, but I am also looking for a hood latch striker, P/N 2486961. I believe that only a ’63 or ’64, Dart, Valiant or Barracuda will work. May be used on other models/years, I am just not certain. Looks like a bent up “S” with ends that will take a through bolt.

I would really appreciate any help anyone could send my way.

There is a pan that covers that whole area and screws in the front with the 5 screws. Looks like your missing a lot of parts. The carpet glued to those missing parts. The glue is mostly for the side parts. This is the only shot from WAY before my 66 Barracuda resto. I thought I took photos of that but if you buy the Barracuda book it has all the parts shown in detail. It’s a manella yellow cover kinda looks homemade and has the history of Barracuda from 64-69. Maybe some others will have more shots to help you.

There a large metal piece that mounts on top of that flat area. I don't know what it's called though.65'

This is the book I was talking about. It gives a full detail on all interior and exterior parts for the cars. I found this on eBay.

When I took mine apart there was a gray cardboard (like poster board) glued on top of that and the carpet was stuck to the cardboard. I guess it helps keep the carpet from sinking into those grooves....

mine has the tin pan and had cardboard between the carpet and the pan. When I bought mine 30 years ago I was the first one to restore it so I believe the cardboard was factory. I believe the cardboard is needed otherwise the carpet will fall into the grooves of the tin pan.

And don't forget that you will need the trunk divide, which folds down, and clips to the top of the opening directly under the big rear window. I am in the process of restoring a 64 also, and working to get mine together (I may have a spare, if you need one). Thankfully, these cars are pretty simple, but because they were trying to throw together something to offset the Mustang, and used the Valiant body to modify, some things are exclusive to 64-66, and hard to find.

That sound dampening material is between the body and the pan, then there is a cardboard on top. In my car the factory sound dampener was all hard and brittle. It broke into little chunks when removed. I did a similar thing and used commercial sound dampener pads and a hunk of silver air conditioner insulation a friend gave me to replace that pad.

You may have better luck and more looks if you post in the "wanted" section.
The parts look similar to 67-69 stuff but they have to be different.

Was it you I was chatting with about splash pans for inner fender and hood latch..??

My old '66 had the cardboard on the top of the tin pan. I don't think I removed the pan when I replaced the carpet.
