Maybe he's so pissed he's at a loss for words and took a time out! I will say I have used year one for a couple of purchases lately and I'm not impressed $12 postage for a couple of stickers, a badge that broke on installation another 12.50 or so in postage. I used to be a fan and bought a lot of parts from them but I'll use them as a last resort now.
I see overpriced parts ridiculous postage and long waits in your future!
Hey ur not Rusty. Kim
Who's Kevin King????Sorry, that's a hard one to pass on to Kevin King...
Well, I think it is fair to say that the shipping department is definitely a profit center at Year One. When I was completely restoring my 69 Barracuda several years ago, I signed up for the advertising Emails from Classic Industries. Their shipping isn't cheap, but it was less than Year One. Plus, I got 20-25% off on everything Emails all the time.Maybe he's so pissed he's at a loss for words and took a time out! They are definitely making a profit. I have no problem with a company marking up shipping enough to allow that department to at least break even, but....I'm not defending Year One as I have never purchased from them.
To be fair and all else aside, are high shipping costs the attributable to the shippers(UPS, USPS, FEDEX, etc.) or is Year One making a profit from shipping?
As discussed in other FABO/FBBO/FEBO posts, IMO, high shipping costs can attributed to subsidies given to Amazon and others large companies via lower shipping rates at our expense
Black periods matter
I too have visited and had a tour of the facility when it was based in Stone Mountain. Spent many thousands of dollars over the last 35 years with them...but not so much in the last 10.I have bought very little from them over the years, but I did stop by for a visit when they were brand new. I had a business trip to Atlanta (Marietta)in Feb. 1985. Had some time to kill the afternoon I got there. It was cool to see the start of resto parts coming on the scene.
I still have all mine too .....dating from about 1986.I still have their catalog from 1987 and the fax order sheets.
