Greyhound shipping shenanigans

Two words......Insurance, Small claims court (actually 4 words 2 words just sounded cooler) Time to move on with your life and everyone else's! I see you ignored Riddlers question, might as well put 700 bucks in and envelope with no return address

Late 70's/early 80's I shipped tires from AR to WI via GreyDog.

I paid the shipper $20.00 to take them to the bus station. Cost $8.00 per tire...I usually shipped 10-20 tires each time.

Two day delivery to Milwaukee. Never an issue...but that was a long time ago

Oh wait now I remember you. Sorry I was having a bad day and you f#%k around way too much and it got under my skin. Not to mention I thought you were a fake profile with that weird pic. I apologize but aren’t we all allowed to have a bad day?

After seeing this exchange between you and another member, I think I see where the problem is. If you talked to Ms. Scott this way, I don’t blame the whole company for putting you on ban. Just sayin!

Well they ARE right. People are their main transport concern......but still they should not accept money in agreement for something and then not do it.
Google ‘Grayhound lost my package’
You will see the same story over and over which is, as mentioned
*moving packages is secondary to the main business of moving people.
* grayhound does not have point to point tracking of packages, so they cannot pinpoint the location of packages in transit.
* it is up to the bus driver to load-unload-move the packages along with the luggage of the folks on the bus. Packages likely get a lower priority than the luggage of the folks they are face to face with.
* the Cv19 thing really reduced the number of folks traveling, that reduced scheduled service. That would add time to an unpredictable and already lengthy shipping service.
Basically, if you buy the cheapest shipping plan, you will get the worst shipping customer service.

Yes, BUT in his shoes I would be just as irate, especially after 2 months.
Even if greyhound is a mistake, they offer the service...FedEx does the same thing stealing people’s gun purchases.
After 2 months I would be fit to be tied. Judge with grace brother.
If any of you saw me at my worst, you’d put two states between us. Some have.

Exactly. Was kinda where I was goin with my comment.

why did you ship with greyhound in the first place?

and before you answer "because they were the cheapest" think long and hard about WHY they mighta been the cheapest

I'd ask why did you ship with them AGAIN? But then again, I have a low tolerance of ignorance.....

In many cases one gets what one pays for.

Ok Mouser, let’s go with that theory. So, would be more irate with Ms. Scott, an employee at Greyhound, or at yourself for either not reading the 100’s of bad reviews BEFORE you used them, or going ahead and using them AFTER you read them and used them anyway, especially after being burned by them once before? And, who would be considered a “Retard”, as he puts it, for using them to ship his high dollar one year only parts with no insurance, which Greyhound does not supply. If I’m shipping a $12k guitar, I use an outside insurance company such as Heritage to cover the transaction, I don’t expect any shipper to cover the cost of anything, as is common knowledge.

Let’s face it, he screwed himself here, and his explanation to member 67Dart is a ******* joke. Having a bad day? Nope, sorry, that’s no excuse for that message. Me thinks this guy has a lot of bad days, and blames his problems on that, and everybody else. Sorry, I don’t blame 67Dart for not selling to him, and I don’t blame Greyhound for ghosting him. I do however, blame Greyhound for losing his stuff, but of course, their disclaimer of people first, packages second, and having the driver having to handle the package possibly many times, and having this in print many times over would’ve kept me from using them in the first place.

You did that. A lot more than two states too.

Right! People can sell or not sell to whomever they want. Evidently Colin got a bad vibe (obviously LOL) from the guy so he decided not to help him out. Colin is a stand up dude. This guy made a mistake making bad juju between them. He could have gotten lots of help.

We used Greyhound up here to ship hash in a locked tool box from west coast to Ontario. Always arrived and well worth the $$. I would use them again.

Sent a few things oversize with GH and they said 5-7 days normally for the route. Took 2 months... BUT there was a huge blizzard all across the country from the rockies east. Not really their fault. Buyers didn't like that nobody could tame mother nature. All the items arrived, just late. Bottom line, crap happens.

That's a ton of phone calls and I'd likely not take any after the first one of the day! Hope they find your stuff.

Because no one wants too pay $ for shipping. In the first 3 months of this year I’ve had more ppl say shipping is to high than in the last 5 years. Kim

You must not have read it all lol. The emails began 2 months AFTER losing my package.. and this is the 2nd time this has happened and still without resolve. How about you buy a 1 year only/non reproduced part and trust me to deliver it only to have it disappear. TWICE. and receive no compensation or closure. I bet that respect goes out the window fast. I can’t speak for you but I’m not a pushover. Respect is a two way street brother! And the item in question is a fender I purchased from a member on this page for about $700 with shipping.

Unfortunately most freight companies employ retards just like every other industry , I can relate I been waiting on a dirt bike sticker kit from ebay .
Well I have a certified ebay address etc and buy atleast 2 to 4 items a week but fedex cant find my home so item was sent back
ETC ETC ETC

I share your sentiments on many points Cosgig, but I find that many simply take advantage of kindness as a sign of weakness, and would give the OP the benefit of the doubt on originally being kind.

Reviews WOULD be a good clue, but not 100%. I feel the same way he does, after buying 1.7 magnum rockers from BobR. And mailing a draft bank check that took over 2 months to Canada via the US Post Office .

I have received Plymouth b body doors, a complete Aspen trunk pan via greyhound, no problem.

getting the run around from people that have a specific job for lost goods is bullogna. What the OP failed to realize is that the poor female they dumped on the problem was probably NOT competent enough to handle Greyhound’s disorganization and could not legally confide her loss in confidence for the situation-only an expensive lawyer that can yield consequences would resolve that.

After military service, a few of us aholes expect more from our fellow human, thought before action, ownership in organization, etc.!-to our COMPLETE Disappointment. But we behave the same way.

I distinctly remember many of the older generation with high expectations of responsibility as well, though I think most of us have given up hope for today’s society.

Well stated, sir.

That's great Steve, How many 12 oz cans will fit in a toolbox:rofl:

I ship large stuff all over the country and I stopped using crackhead shipping {GH} years ago. They lost a floor pan in a 60x80 box and a rocker in a 7' box. How in the hell do you lose something that big? They can't track anything, will only insured up to 300.00 and takes an act of Congress to settle a claim.
Their terminal here is a drug bust haven. Cops are always making random checks with the dogs and always haul someone to jail.
