I needed to pinch a part from another of my cars today to get this one going, so tonight i was going to order the part to replace it and to my surprise i think there made of real gold , the price certainly reflected it. I think i will cut and fold one myself.
It probably don't even need the folded part, plenty of other spots to put a return spring.

Looks like gold. Might as well price it accordingly. Then again, it might be the black gold lock washers driving the cost. I remember an old mountaineer named Jed finding it in liquid form while out shootin' for some food one day.

Folks said "Jed, you got to move away from there"...

Needed some small parts for this batch of carbs I am going through. Kind of the same deal the price and availability of the parts I needed.

Thought I would just get a "Parts Carburetor" that I can part out, and still have some good parts left over.

Got the parts carb shipped in at a reasonable price. Got to looking it over, it's all complete and everything is working. Pulled the top off to look inside the bowls, just a little minor sediment as expected, no corrosion whatsoever.

Heck this carb is too nice to part out, so I am going to run it through the Sonic Cleaner and make it good as new again.

Dang, now I still need the small carb parts I was after. Maybe hit Mopars in the Park swap meet and pick up a couple hacker carbs there for 10.00 to 25.00 each.

Happy Motoring . . .

This isn't a parts wanted thread fellas.

Went back up and I didn’t see anyone asking for parts, just complaining about prices. Oh well.

Shop around, there's cheaper ones...

Edit: Oops, I see you're in Oz... by the time you figure in the exchange rate and shipping, that price'll be pretty close- You're right, they're not that hard to make, especially at that price.

The "GOLD" carb links that I needed showed up from Utah today.

So far so good . . .

Just in case some have forgotten we now live and pay in 2021 year prices. Not when they made our cars.
Just enjoy the fact that you can even find and buy these parts today.
What about when they don't anymore. Do you think they will be even cheaper then ?
Buy extras now and you will be the smart guy in the future for doing it.

Whowever is selling those figured you got your stimulus check and wants a piece of it

I've turned to the grinder for alot of my special parts lately. Block off plates, alternator brackets, EZ stuff to cut, drill and grind to shape. I really need an 8" lathe, then maybe a Bridgeport...CNC water jet would be pretty cool. Dream on.....

This is not a old hard to get part, they are still making them, here is a picture of the part next to a $20 gold pencil .yeah I'm being a bit silly , who would pay $20 for pencil.

Steve, stars are just a type of signature that move the main text up off the bottom so easier to read.
Just my thing . . .

Thanks

Does the pivot shaft hole have flats in it?

That makes it a bit harder to fabricate.

No, no flats just a piece of 2mm flat with three holes , I'll carve one out when i get the time, no big deal.
