Got a haircut today and went to the liquor store for beer.

New guy carded me and then said, you are a senior, put the code in and $2.60 off my 15 pack of wide mouth Coors Light.

I wanted to say you owe me 1k for all the beer I have bought here since turning 55!

I never ask or push, but 2.60 off 18 is pretty good!

Do you ever ask for a senior discount?

I need a new lawn mower, I generally don't ask for the veterans discount, but 10% off of the mower I'm looking at is a lot.
Generally, I don't ask, I feel funny about the "Thank you for your service" line, but for $400, I'll deal with it.

Lowe’s does the Veteran discount. My pops always goes there!

Now that you are senior like me, you got more time to drink beer, and it's cheaper. Double winner.

Well I have been missing out on these discounts for years! I could have paid for some upgrades or even a new project by now! In beer purchase alone!

In Beer alone at my rate, with some quick math, that is roughly $550 per year for 4 years, almost bought a new to me decent A-body!

FYI
At Lowes you have to sign up with them to get the veterans discount.
You do that online.
Then when you are the Lowes check out counter they ask you for your phone number to verify who you are.
Easy peasy.
Home Depot, and Ace Hardware, just give you the discount, by asking for it.
I just take out my VA card from the wallet and show them, but most of the time i have one of those black veterans caps on the top of my head, covering up a bad hair day. (I still have a full head of hair) lol

I quit in 93 so I could save up to build a HotRod. And my wife quit smoking at about the same time. Hyup I spent that money on the HotRod too. Five years of savings got me a nice roller.

So does Home Depot and Ace.
I generally only ever use it in high dollar stuff.

Home depot didnt want to give me a veterans discount , we went to lowes . QUALITY HAS ALWAYS BEEN BETTER AT LOWES FOR ME ANYWAY .

As a veteran I’ve asked for discounts frequently especially if they advertise it. The service ID card , which you only get to keep if you retired at 20 or more years is mostly the one they accept. I couldn’t figure out why this area has many places advertising for veterans discount. The Villages which is a huge sr retirement community near me ,it is largely retired vets. It pisses me off that guys who retire vs those of us who didn’t technically retire ,
But served anyway, would get discounts. WTF

I posted a list in the discount code thread of a the veterans discounts available. To bad they dont combine the senior discount with it!

Because it's a veterans discount, not a "retired veterans discount".
I have friends who did 20 in the Army, never saw the first deployment.
Then I have a few friends who did 3 years and was deployed for nearly all of it.
Does being being in the military for a lessor time make you less of a veteran?
I don't think so.
The DOD and the VA has established the amount of time and the conditions of discharge to establish veteran status.

I look at it this way. Most of us volunteered for the unknown, or were called up. You deserve whatever you are offered. You did allot more than most for this country.

I am on a craft brew kick. It isn't uncommon for me to pay $5-7 a pint at a pub, or $21.00 a twelve pack.:)

I've been getting the "Senior" discount at the race track for years. Even though I don't meet their criteria until this fall . Your hair going snow white at 50sumthin' has it's advantages . What the heck, it's a FREE Firestone 805 at the beer booth.
