Take this piece of advice. If there are two or three products on the shelf there and ONE is the ACE store brand, PASS on it and get the name brand product.
It does not seem to matter if it is a light bulb, a roll of tape. bug killer, spray paint or anal itch cream....The house brands are terrible.
Hey, I try to save a buck when I can. Sometimes you see the product for a dollar less and the quality seems the same....
FALSE. Everything that I have tried sucks ***. Drill bits too.

Really? I've used their tomato plant food for years and it works just like Miracle Grow. Even has the same ingredients. I got some Better Boys fixin to grow outta their buckets right now.

I buy mostly bolts, paint, weber replacement grills. The wife like to buy decor up front-bowls,chimes...**** like that.

Yeah....unfortunately, Gray has the biggest Ace in like 7 southeast states so it has all the bells and whistles. I can go in there for ONE frikkin bolt and Kitty's off to the gift and plant shop. Das ok. She really likes it and it makes her happy.

I have given up on buying their house brand stuff. The only thing that I can say that was decent so far is the home A/C air filters.

This old lady was on a crowded city bus and was going through her purse. She dropped her bottle of Aspirin and it started rolling toward the back of the bus. She started yelling my aspirin, my Aspirin. Guy sitting across the bus says well stick it out the window lady.

I agree with the OP. Bought an ACE three-way bulb...doesn't work in the socket. Bought some ACE decorator bulbs...the frosting is so thin you can see the filament when they're on. Bought an ACE drill bit....three holes in mild steel and the bit was toast. Bought an ACE toilet bowl ring....ended up replacing that after the toilet leaked. No, the ACE house brand items I've bought aren't the top of the heap.

Ya, you will have that with many house brands. There's a reason why the stuff is cheaper.

Many house brands are produced by the same company and on the same line that makes the name brand, just a different label at the last station. Many but not all. Easy-Off 'classic' will continue to be my 'go to' anodizing stripper as I have yet to cross a brand that works at all. How does a 3 way bulb not work? Seems pretty standardized.....

Can you recommend a good brand of anal itch cream?

Don't waste your money on commercial anal itch preparations. Mix 2 tablespoons of powdered battery acid in a cup of oven cleaner and then apply it with a cupped wire brush spinning at a high RPM. Takes care of the itch every time!

...I bought a garbage can off of them because the neighbor had one and I thought, hott damn, that is a nice can. It holds a lot of trash as well. Kern, you can insult my car, my family, even me but I will be dammed if I'm going to let you talk **** on my Garbage can.

Speaking of garbage cans back in 1985 there was a store named Jamesway. I had just bought my house so don’t ask me why but we drove the 12 miles to Jamesway in my girlfriends Chevy Monza. Well being I just bought a house and had nothing we stocked up two full carts and they had these rubbermaid garbage cans so I bought two. That car was so full I almost had to leave her at the store. I ended up marrying that girl. she’s long gone but I’m still using those damn cans.

Their wasp killer works very well.
I haven't timed the deaths, usually I spray & put em out of their misery with my boot & 175 pounds of stomping force

Try an ACE three-way bulb for yourself. Tell me how that works out for you.

Words to live by. “Never be afraid to buy the best, you’ll never be disappointed”

I bought some packing tape of theirs....It was too thick, hard to cut and didn't stick well.

Seems like for many years , quality has gone to hell. And in a effort to maintain price., things have shrank. Just bought a 6 pack of packing tape from Staples. The rolls are tiny compared to the ones I bought last year. And expensive. My favorite snack when I was a kid (about 55-60 years ago) was a 3V Cola and a Zero bar. Compare a zero bar from 1963 for a nickel to the bit o honey size Zero bar today that costs $1.50 today.

These are eight Better Boy tomato plants. I got them three weeks ago. They were all about 6" tall. I fed them with the Ace brand tomato food and water them every other day and mist them everyday and this is them today. I plan on getting six more buckets and put one plant per bucket they are gettin so big. So the tomato food works.

That is why I kept trying their stuff. I figured that maybe I just had a few bad products. I figured that something had to be good there.
