Nope. I'm wondering why you are thinking of changing? It's better at matching modern paint cause thats what the factories use.Anyone ever spray it ? Thinking of switching. All i do is classic & antique cars. Just wandering how it matches the old colors.
Well i use to do my body & paint at my dad out in the middle of no where. No body cared what you did. Dad passed away i n 17 & bought a house a few miles from town & i have neighbors. They are not to close but all it would take is 1 snitch & would have DEP at my door. I was told 1 way around it is waterbase paint. I have heard good things about PPGs envirobase.Nope. Still gotta pound the clear. Thats the stinky part. I've heard good things about it too. You need lots of airflow. I'm sure the colors are as good as ever. Some formulas are just gone. Gotta use the prophet for formulas or call PPG if they happen to have a reading,Well i use to do my body & paint at my dad out in the middle of no where. No body cared what you did. yea the clear is the worst part. Now i just read that PPG came out with a clear to go along with the envirobase. Have to do more research. Ill have to start doing my painting at night. lol I got the right exhaust & intake filters so no over spray. Just have to deal with the smell. I usually spray the base one day then the clear the next. My back cant take a full paint job any more. lolStill gotta pound the clear. Thats the stinky part. I've heard good things about it too. I gotta time my painting too. If you filter it and can get it up in the air with a stack, you are doing as good as anybody else.yea the clear is the worst part. I got on DEPs website & got the exhaust filters they recommend. They do a really good job. What i just did is i went & bought one of those cheap garage tents & put the one end at my exhaust fan. All i store in it is some old lumber. I would like to find a way to stand out side & see how much you really do smell the fumes & how fare.I gotta time my painting too. Getting it UP is the ticket. Thats why you see the big stacks coming from commercial spray booths.I got on DEPs website & got the exhaust filters they recommend. They do a really good job. When I used to paint locomotives in the late 80s we tried water based paint for a short while. From what I can remember it was a very hard finish when it cured and we didn't use a clear coat on it. The big problem for us was cleaning the equipment. We used a pressure pot for painting the loco's and with the long hose used for carrying the paint it made it really hard for clean up when switching back and forth between water base and polyurethane paints. Water and polyurethane just don't mix, lol. I do remember we just went back to base coat, clear coat polyurethanes. It was just simpler.Anyone ever spray it ? Thinking of switching.
