After retiring I knew I wanted a 66 Valiant so I went on the hunt till I found a good one. When driving it, people would ask what it was. Of course, I'd tell them it was a Valiant. "Huh? What's a Valiant" was the response all too often. I finally settled on an explanation, asking if they knew what a 66 Barracuda was. Of course, they answer. Well, a 66 Valiant is the same car from the doors forward. That makes is a halfafish. :D
funny how easy it is to see when somebody explains it. All this time I've not seen "half-a-fish" and it was so plain LOL

- oh, by the way, the urge is getting stronger and stronger to own a Early - A

I owned a band for 30 years called Company of Strangers, COS....and GIG alludes to that, and are also the initials of both of my kids.

Had a 69 Fury convertible. Original owner gave it to me in 96 or 97. Started searching parts on ebay and needed a user name. RAGTOPFURY was born. Have used that name on every forum, except a Dakota forum where I am Shelby321 cuz I till own number 321 since it was new.
Sold the Fury a couple of years ago, but I'll always be Ragtopfury. I do have a 68 B'cuda ragtop waiting it's turn and in the late 80''s I had a 71 B'cuda ragtop.
I like my ragtops....

Did that ragtop fury go to Michigan, by chance?

I like old rusty rat rods. Plus, strokerscamp had run his course.

"Dibbons" is a nickname. When I was a toddler, someone asked Dad what to call me (I was named after Dad). For some reason, a gentleman from England Dad did business with came to mind, a "Mr. Dibbons" and it stuck. Later, it got shortened to "Dib".

Fifty years later, I was working North Shore Lake Tahoe, Nevada, as a casino cashier. I used my nickname while I was there. A co-worker told me about a book she had read titled "Dibs in Search of Self" and recommended I read it some time. I thought some day I might read it but was in no hurry to purchase any books.

My wife likes to shop at thrift stores. While still living in the Lake Tahoe cabin, I accompanied her one afternoon to a local second-hand store. I walked around for a few minutes, got bored, and sat down to wait for the misses to finish up (nothing at the time in the store interested me).

While still seated and waiting patiently, I turned my head to find directly behind me a bunch of used books for sale (probably fifty cents each or so). Right at eye level and directly in front of my nose on the shelf was a paperback book titled "Dibs in Search of Self". That was quite a coincidence, without ever having looked for the book, the book found me.

Excellent Thread as I've often wondered what the deeper meaning was in the handles for some of the members here.

Mines pretty simple since Ma Mopar's greatest notoriety is the HEMI and I've always struggled with people telling me what to do or how to act and the norms of society.

Never have been one to follow the crowd so its OUTLAW.

Here's one explaination.
Steve (aka @autoxcuda ) already had what I thought was the most appropriate name. In fact it was due to his website that I was finally able to connect with him and others autocrossing rwd mopars.

The first part is obvious, and the second part is another common abreviation for the sport.

thanks

things is I haven’t autocrossed in years.

Ive transitioned to track days.... more run time... cost more, but I have a bigger budget than I did when I was 21 years old.

Mopar Make America Great Again, not much to explain, anyone is welcome to interpret it anyway they like it's a free country. (Kind of) LOL.

I wish I could change mine to maga-outlaw

My first initial, nickname, and favorite number. Favorite number comes from the Mach 5 and Speed Racer, of course.

And I read this wearing my Open Formula Series Racing Mach Five Repair Manual t-shirt :)

yea I know. But its where you started and you'll always be autoxcuda! :)

I've had breaks from autocrossing due to grad school, work, car projects...etc Just happens I keep coming back to it. Its close, its convenient, and I'm still getting better when I'm competing frequently enough. Might make a track day this year but also want to move to a place with my own garage.

Speaking of budgets. Geez if you wanted to play for real in CAM-T its as much CP these days. No thanks. Not cutting up a nice body to play that game. Yup. Track days/nights can easily be a better bang for the buck these days.

Yo 318, thanks for a cool thread. It has been a hoot reading all these explanations. Some are obvious, some not so much. Great thread!
Honestly, I'm not very good at "word search". And it shows here, I bet I only knew 50% of what the names meant/mean. LOL :D And some are so obvious once they say it, makes me wonder why I didn't get it after years of being here!!!

str12 is the part designation for edelbrock's crossram for the 340, the one I was told couldn't be run on the street, 15,000 miles ago...

I've been working on tow trucks for the past 19 years. There's so much grease on them that no matter what I do during a repair my fingers always get covered in grease. Hence greasyfingers.

I rarely get greasy when I work on my own junk though.
