Shiny Primer

-
Arguing car colors like arguing politics and religion! Like RRR said, I personally equate the early a bodies to more mundane granny colors.
I was over on FBBO in the early B threads, and someone mentioned how they love that "turkey turd tan" I call it. Thought it was amusing. Few back then wold want it except granny or a rancher which lives 10 mi down a dirt road! I had several 64 Savoys back in the 90s and have another now, and I was tempted back then to paint one its original tan or beige or whatever it is, just to show how any color in fresh shiny paint can look good, but maybe subdued.

You can't go wrong with white.
No matter how glossy you get it, it still looks somewhat dull at 20 feet.............

Greg, a friend, body man, race car builder, upholsterer, generally talented guy told me to make white paint stick out, add a little tiny bit of blue tint to the paint.

Well, I better get painting my car quickly so that it does not look “bullshitty”. “Hideous” amd “horrible”. To be honest, I get many compliments about it even though the bodywork underneath is terrible on the passenger side. Also, I am planning on painting it this winter but I have not decided on a color yet. I have contemplated everything from viper red to B5 to f8 green to gy8 gold and many others. The interior is all black and will stay that way. The outside, and later engine bay is undetermined. Hood scoop not installed yet

Well that just goes to show you any color can look good with the right combination of wheels, stripes etc. That combo looks really good to me. You just gotta accessorize a little bit, lol!

Looks good as is to me! I'd drive the wheels off and say EEF off to the haters lol. That's a sharp and straight and solid car screw what anyone else thinks or says as long as it makes you happy.

I really like the color as it is but I don't like the bodywork underneath. No rust at all but there are waves , dimples and cracking where the vinyl top was. I may find some rust if I remove the filler. I may not even do anything and do exactly what you said. Drive it. This will be a winter decision after driving it this summer.

That is a big problem area for me as well im just gonna do what I can when I can and when I'm satisfied with it I'm gonna spray it. I'm not a professional and I can't afford 12k to have a professional do it for me. I did all the body work underneath the hood and replaced the floors and trunk so im gonna do the body work too.

That is some great work. This is a hobby for me. As time permits, I will get the work done. Idaho has cold winters when you cannot play outside. I am fortunate enough to have a heated shop so winter is the time for big projects.

Me too its a hobby for me also. I don't have a garage or fancy tools. I have a harbor freight welder and a harbor freight air compresser and I do all my work outside in the elements. Im hoping to have a garage soon. A level concrete floor would make a world of difference.

You get compliments because it is an old car being driven and used instead of rusting away. Old cars look a LOT different than new cars and many people have fond memories of them.
Personal tastes....It is such a strange thing how one person can see a color and smile while another makes a face like he licked a battery.
I find it strange that some people don't like blue cars. I think that they are gorgeous.
Some people love bourbon, some love SPAM. I hate the taste of beer while most men seem to love it. I like women....some dudes like other dudes and drive Hondas and Subarus.

Kitty have been noticing lately the increasing number of newer cars and trucks that are painted with what we're calling shiny primer. Same shade as grey primer, but obviously with clear coat. Why would anybody want such a bullshitty color on anything? Ugliest crap I've ever seen. Do people not like color anymore? Just drive by most any new car lot. Silver, grey, brown, tan, toupe....WTF is toupe? Most reds and blues are muted. I think Jeep has a nice blue....and there are a very few more. No color anymore.
I guess I am in the minority then. I like that color. Dave Kindig did a 55 or 56 Chevy in a similar color, and I really liked it.

Kitty have been noticing lately ....

Lately? It's been like 5 years since the gray thing has been popular. Don't worry, you almost missed the whole thing. A couple more years and it'll be out of style.

The nearest town to us is only about 2500 population.

Always one in every crowd. lol I like that Kent. You put enough of another color to make a good contrast. It looks nice.
