it seems the older i get, the more i can appreciate cars like that. Years ago i would have just thought "old and ugly", but now i see a car i would like to sit in and really take it in and appreciate it for what it is and the time it's survived.

reminded me too. that wasn’t a hard hit and it tipped the whole vehicle on its side.

Stock they had mechanical brake (no hydraulic). There are/were later hydraulic retrofit systems. But still a lot worse than 60’s drum brakes.
