Was up at "OH Dark Thirty" then headed to Alameda Swap Meet. Met up at my eldest house with my youngest daughter and SIL in their '63 Biscayne along with the eldest daughter who rode with me in the Valiant to Alameda.

Found a great parking space then walked up and down the many isles looking at great "stuff" for sale.

Daughters reminisced on the swap meets I used to take them back when they were in grade school and how much fun they had.
I'm planning to attend more classic car functions in the coming weeks/months.

Koolsville. I went a bit late. No parts I needed, but good to see some folks I havent for too long and peeped at the 4bbl supercharged slant in the orange Bcuda. Good times!

Hey Gemi, sorry to read about the hit and run. I posted this reply and felt I should also post it here.
Man, that's the *****. Sorry to see that.
I don't mean to hijack this thread but this is a perfect example of why I have in each of my daily driver a dual front/rear dash cam, including in my '63 Valiant that's placed beside the rear mirror view mirror.
Also, I installed "strobe emergency flasher" lights on the rear valance. I had to use it headed back home from the swap meet last Saturday while driving in the Alameda Tube. Traffic was at at dead stop and cars behind were approaching fast. I flips the switch activating the lights and those cars slowed quickly.
Some may say it's illegal to use those lights but I rather get a ticket than being rear ended.

A friend bought a car that's been out of DMV system over a decade. He has the "Pink slip" signed over to him and the VIN and original Black plates are on the car.
Will DMV need the car brought to their office to verify the VIN or will they register it without verification?
The problem is that the car is not running so it'll have to be trailered for verification.
Asking for my friend.

Do I understand he has a title signed by the seller and the car hasnt been registered in 100 years?
If CA DMV has no record of the car they will want a VIN Verification. I use ASAP Lein Sales for VIN indpections. Waaay faster and easier than taking the car to DMV or CHP. For @ $100 they send an inspector to you.
They understand our shorter vin #s, and wanted an engine in the car(at least sitting in the engine bay) but didnt check engine # last time I used them.
Just in case, buyer should get the seller to fill out a Statement of Facts form to establish that the car was non operational and stored indoors on private property all these years to avoid DMV extorting back registration fees.

I don’t know if this is a normal thing, but fees were not paid on my car for over 10 years. DMV’s estimate was something like 800 dollars in back fees.

I used a private registration company, for the transfer to my name, and registered as non-op. About a year later, I registered my car as operational. Never paid back fees, never had to have a verification, etc. Slightly different situation, but like @geminimotors , the private company was extremely understaffed and helpful.

Beams- Do you have a name or contact info for that company? I was given a notorious 68 Olds Delmont 88 with a signed title. Not registered since ‘03 and still in the dmv system. Back fees are @ $800. I could really use a service like that. View attachment 1715740064

All CLASSIC Mopar’s through 1974 are welcome!
Meet-up spot: Bass Pro Shops at 9AM on Saturday the 22nd, located at 5160 Cherry Ave in San Jose.
By 10AM, we are leaving our meet-up spot above and cruising, as a group, on a 30 mile freeway cruise to Huddart Park, located at 1100 Kings Mountain Rd in Woodside.
Bring your own lunch & chairs; plenty of parking spaces and open lawn space at the park to socialize and catch up!!
Bring $ for parking, I believe it’s about $6 per car to park.
Also, there is a 76 Gas Station close to Huddart Park for anybody who wants some 100 octane fuel

Cruise is this weekend - hope to see a lot of people there

Saturday or Sunday? I’m going to the Eagle Field Drags in Firebaugh on Saturday. Supposed to be pretty big.

Great turn out at the meet/cruise. I was not able to do the cruise. Here is the link for some of the pictures
