Please say a prayer for mental healing for my stepson Rob.

Ya'll may remember about a year and a half ago when my stepson Rob was in a house fire and nearly died.

He recovered from that, moved to another state, met a girl, and had just started a new job as an armed security guard with Securitas.

Today he got into an argument with his girl and she left. He wrote a suicide note and took all the pain killers he just renewed the prescription on. Just for good measure he took a bottle of lithium and a bunch of Tylenol. When his cousin hadn't heard from him they asked for a wellness check. The police left when nobody answered the door. The cousin, who is also a Veteran, decides to check on him. Found him in bed unresponsive and called 911.

He hadn't been right since serving in the Infantry in Iraq. He was an artistic guy who painted and played guitar. I think the killing and seeing a couple of battle buddies die affected him. He's been up and down since getting back. He's 33 years old.

His cousin put us in touch with a group called "One of 22". They have been at the hospital with him and will help get him the help he needs. They are able to relate being combat Vets themselves.

Thanks FABO.

Sad story, hopefully the people that can relate to Him the most will help Him, also, He probably needs to be watched carefully.
Wish Him and family the best.

Damn Terry, that is some sad news. Hopefully he can get the help he needs and can grab onto something that turns his outlook around. Most of us will never realize the high cost our military veterans paid to afford us this wonderful free life we live. For some the price is to high. I truly hope he finds his way back from that dark place he is at. We owe him a dept we can only hope to repay.

Wow, I do remember you telling us about Rob. I recognize the pic. Strength and positive thoughts being sent from here. Thank him for his service from us.

Master Sergeant, have you ever dealt with Militaryonesource? As a military resource advocate they were my go-to resource to get military members and family folks help. Including myself. I pray Rob gets the help he deserves and that you also find resolution.

Thanks guys. He's in Arkansas and we're in Georgia. His mom is going to wait things out a little before she goes over. They moved him from the ER into the Critical Care Unit so I guess he's still not out of the woods.

I did a career in the Army and Air Force and trained, and trained, and trained. Some was very realistic like a plane scraping the runway, bombs going off, having to rescue people and take them to the hospital (fake wounds but after being in the exercise for 3 days with not much sleep it feels real), etc etc, but I'm sure the real thing is so much different.

Thanks again @seabee . I'm Really glad you were able to get the help you needed. It's ironic that those who need help the most are the most hard headed. Thanks for responding. I really appreciate it.

He just called his mom. He sounds really drugged, but I guess he's on the mend physically. Now he just has to work on the mental side.

Thanks for your prayers.

I take my hat off to anybody who has served in the military of democratic countries to keep the rest of the world free of tyrants. Hope the young man recovers & has a happy life.

Prayers sent. Hopefully he can get the help he needs. Not sure of his relationship with God, but that might be something to think about, too. He is always with us and will help us, but we have to be willing to let Him in.

Said a prayer for him/u all.
I know a young man that it hit pretty hard too. It seems to hit city boys the harder than country boys that grew up killing their food . ----''No cut intended !''

For all the money our government has wasted in the last year we as a society could be working on the problem of Mental illness.... It's real and here is an example. I hate reading stuff like this. I want us all to do "our thing" in life and be a productive member of society. And a Vet. on top of that. Best wishes for better days. Feet on the floor facing forward every morning.....

Prayers for him and your family. I have the utmost respect for those who serve. Thank you and god speed on a fast recovery

Thanks Kim, and all others for your prayers.

He called his mom several times today. His vitals are better. His BP is going back up but his potassium is still high so they are treating it.

When he is released from the hospital he'll go to the VA for 72 hours. He's talking about going to an inpatient facility in Little Rock after the VA to get help. Prayers are working!!
