What Are You Doing To/With Your Car Today?

I see the problem... the distributor is on the wrong end of the engine :p
If you think that's tight, try a big-block :D (or if you're a real glutton for punishment, a 426 Hemi)...
That will be my next motor. A 426 old school Hemi.

I replaced the rear valance and removed the rear bumper guards for appearance. I found out that the car has been rear ended as the bumper is bent and was hitting the valance. The mount is not perfect but the car will be getting a new paint job over winter.

Over the weekend I replaced the water pump, fan, radiator and shroud. Hopefully it helps with the overheating. Cold case 17x26, flowkooler pump, 6 blade with big pitch. I also relocated the trans cooler. Unfortunately, when it overheated it messed up the super sniper efi and it will not start to test it.

May just take it out tomorrow and see what blows! I am a bit “torn” and if it is going to fail then so be it! 7 years running on a 1986 complete rebuild that was stored for 25 years why now? Part of me says save the block and part of me says run it till if fails! I still have that 400 that could be a nice stroker!

Yeah better find where that tick is coming from before running it down the road. Good 383s are getting hard to find, hate to see you damage that one.

You can put it on TDC firing on #1 mark the timing of the distributor to the block with a dry marker, then pull your distributor.

You can get a look in there with s flash light to see how the lobes of the cam are holding up. Same with the fuel pump rod and cam lobe is right there too to check out.

Can get a peak at that front cam bearing too to see that it is not peeling out at the same time.

That will look awesome sitting on your kitchen table

:poke:

Kitchen table? Heck no. It going in the living room where company sits on the clear plastic covered Davenports. And I'll make it a Coffee table until I'm ready for it. :)

Nothing - got a tropical storm passing by us to the east today. Hoping we won't lose power, but I have a new generator just in case.

Waitin on some idle fuel restrictors to see if a leaner idle will clean it up. If it does, then I'm yankin the engine back out to stop an oil pan leak and freshen up the bearings. Then it's back in for the long haul.

Well that bites. I bet you've fixed the over heating issue. Now you just need to get it back runnin and verify it. Dangit all.

I got it started yesterday but I did not bring it up past 170 as I wanted to double check coolant levels and transmission fluid levels before taking it out. I needed to let it cool down. The fan moves much more than before. Fingers crossed!! I will check again this evening
