They might seem off the shelf. But it seems there was some very select and special parts that went to top teams (Petty).

i have flow bench charts from “Petty castings”.

And memos of “select” parts being sent/from to Petty and special drag teams.

Like all prominent figures u are right Im sure they had the best stuff first # just like all those Super Stock guys in GA had in early 60s at
Nalley Chevrolet etc !!
Items listed are kinda spartan Those worked TA heads are unique to say the least cool old article indeed.

race T/A castings are even different than street casting. More square looking ports.

by ‘75 they were up to W-3 or further heads.

I’ll look for some sheets…

Yes please do some of us find that old stuff very interesting and will always be worth reading about.

White as pictured
1975 date
One year before W2 release
I have alot of Direct Connection parts books but this is rarely seen or Has been during my searching.

Just stapled together like 35 pages
Bought off of ebay last year
I havent seen anymore of this particular one but 100 members could have it for all I know.

Here’s reference to square port W-2’s. From other paperwork they were having foundry issues with them and that might have killed them being available to public. Not sure if any survived to actually race.

I cant find my other reference to W-2-1/2 and W-3. Not sure if this “square port W-2” is also called a W-2 1/2.

there’s a whole bunch of stapled “Bulletins” they sold. Then they compiled them into the Racing Manuals books.

The blue 1978 one has 867 pages with 41 bulletins. The yellow 1979 one has 873 pages with 43 bulletins. So even though the yellow book is thinner it has more pages. must be thinner paper.

Also, it seems the individual bulletins got updated and edited. My loose leaf Big Block bulletin has a 1973 copyright and the books have 1976.

Nice collection

I wonder if that fiberglass intake still exists ?
Camshaft info interesting also small lift but motor probably made north of 600 Hp u agree ?
Thanks Chris

ill check if the second page notes anything.

you can get a more aggressive cam lobe when the face of the lifter is like 1.00, but a roller will still put it to shame. Must be put in with block upside down on a stand from the bottom!
