Yeah.......

It wasn't even a hard decision tho. The dart was WAY to race car for me now. It was miserable to drive for more than half an hour.

So. Me and pops got our hands on a 1970-71 Challenger a while ago and the plan was to flip it for easy money. Its a plum crazy car, 904, 7 1/4 car.

Basically exactly the right car for me.
It already has coil over at all 4, as well as disks all around.
The car was on a rotisserie so the underside is rust free and undecorated. It has new quarters on that are ok and some minor rust around the deck lid and probably more that i will find but it is solid.

I have been having anxiety about the car and pops selling it. So much so that it kinda was weighing on me. Today I told dad, Do not sell this car. I want to buy it off "Us". We talked a while and all my dad really wants is a cool old car that he can drive to car shows and stuff. (He owns a lot of cool cars just none of them run or drive.)
So He asked if i would give him the dart and he will bow out of the title on the Challenger.

In two seconds i had my welding gloves off and we shook hands. Its done and I couldnt be more happy.

Dont get me wrong, I love my Dart. Its.my baby. I built her by hand but..... I haven't Raced the car in over two years. I drove it once last year to get beer just because i wanted to see if it would fire up.

I just traded a running, driving car for a pile of parts and i am ok with that. Plus, lets be honest. I still get to drive the dart. Hell he would probably let me race it if I asked but stuffing it in the ditch when its not mine would be bad.

I hope y'all don't mind if i stick around tho...
Ive grown to like it here.

Thank you to everyone who helped me out over the years. I could never have done it with out you folks.

I'm sure you know this, but that's a good friend right there!!

He use to work for us and his daily was a 1930 **** box. One day i said "leave it here tonight and I will tune it up for ya."

He came in early all excited the next morning and caught me installing a new motor in it. So in theory, I did tune it up and yes. He was a great friend.

With the car i also got a 383 Scat pack hemi out of a 2017, a viper T56? 6 speed, and auto 8 speed, a carbon fiber dash, a very expensive air ride (for sale) system and boxes and boxes of parts.

My plan is 120 MPH all day with the AC and radio on.

Nothing is in the car.
My shop shares a wall with a high end Dyno shop. I like watching the new engines eat on the dyno. The range of power when rules are off is insane, not to mention just giving one a solid kick in the ***.

These new engines can be very fun and bad *** but i just want to be able to drive FAST all day in silence, with the AC on and cup holders.

Edit. I want all that in my old school MOPAR.
:steering::thankyou:

:)

I honestly think the FABO forum is the best one i ever joined.
I joined because of my 65 barracuda but havent touched it in 2 years. The coffee shop is my morning go to, but i sure enjoy reading about all the trials and tribulations that all the posting members experience here. They even put up with my dumb questions from time to time.

i especially enjoy seeing the work the members here do.

your skill and creativity are second to none, would be a shame if you took it away.

Quiet and AC... I almost shed a tear, my boy is all grown up... LOL...
Dual quads, nitrous, and AC is the way I roll...
I haven't drag raced my car in a couple years either... Only drove it probably two or three times this year and that's what they see in it... Just isn't convenient...
I went to the Mopar Nationals two Sundays ago and barely made it to noon just watching... I don't do the heat very well..
Supposed to go ride in our go-karts tomorrow with a bunch of friends and it's going to be close to 100°. I text everybody and bailed and said wait till next week when it's 85 or less...
It's all supposed to be for enjoyment and sweating our nuts off ain't fun...

Cope, you got mad skills and I love watching whatever you are building I don’t care if it is a Vega! I stuffed a modern Hemi in my old car and it is a absolute blast. Stuff that new Hemi in the old challenger and never look back. Whatever you decide to build, I can assure you there will be a bunch of us old envious guys watching your talent and energy create something cool!

Vegas are cool.

We got a Vega steering box sitting on a shelf.....

I cant thank you all enough. If it wasnt for all you guys my car would not have been cool at all.
I didnt know MOPAR form MOped when i showed up here.

The funny thing is i dont like loud noise.

Everyone says well you should be use to it but im over it. I want my classic to sound like my 2017 WRX.

I want to hear it when I want and all the rest i want cold air, power, cell phone charging, GPS.... and no one can go crazy because its a 318 904 714 plumb crazy car.

Its perfect.

This is my favorite picture of me in the dart.
The women in my family dont like cars. BUT my sisters kids love cars and thats not my fault.
