Tony has finished the restoration of Tom Myl’s HEMI Super Stock BO car. Unfortunately Tony is battling some medical issues and this is the only picture released at this time.
Sorry for not showing a lot of the pictures finishing up of the restoration, kinda fell out my hands.
But I will fill you in on the Hardest Original Engine Hunt ever. (The Quick Version)
A few years back talking to Arlen Vanke(a few times) RIP. He left me with a few leads to call and some back history of the car. After hours and hours of phone calls, endless stories, dead ends and finally a breakthrough which led me to a small place in Ohio and what do you know up on the the top shelf near the rafters 1968 super stock hemi block. As we all know these engine do not have vins. But after this journey that Tony and I went on and this motor to be here. This good enough for me (So Cool).
Thanks Tony for letting me be a part of this journey!

Awesome! What a great story and restoration. Glad you went back to the old specs

All what's left is the hood. Looking Good!

The original A body Dana just arrived today.
What was the BOM on the Dana? Width? Did it have stock type 23-spline axles that drop down in diameter quite a bit between the splines and the axle bearing?
Also, are the K-frame to frame rail bolts something different than stock bolts? Thanks

From what we can up with the rear is, they used a 67 b body Dana.
The K frame bolts look the same just longer

I believe it is the same length as a 67 B body but the spring pads were moved and had different angles to accommodate the superstock springs. Before everybody freaks out there is a typo in the first paragraph…it should say 9-3/4 not 9-1/4.

Thanks- So the perches were moved in 1.3" per side so the spring perches are moved in an additional 0.8" per side for 41.4" instead of 43" center to center for a stock a body. Was this the original application that led to the DC offset hangers?

In your Barracuda S/S recreation, you have a 67 Dana date coded in there, correct?

Didn't it have date coded 4.56 gears like WO/RO cars had?

Oddly enough I do have a 67 Dana in my car, it just kinda worked out that way.

My brother gave me a 1/18 scale one for my birthday. Not sure what number I got though.

Thanks all for the likes
I was fortunate to see the real car up close a couple of years ago before the drivetrain installation.
Both the model and the actual car are phenomenal.

Restoration of Tom Myl's 1968 BO29 Barracuda

I am helping my Friend (Tony) with the restoration of his 1968 BO29 Barracuda.
He is restoring it back to the way Tom had in 1968. He has talked to Tom on phone a lot(what a big help) and Tom is excited to see the car back to the way he race it in 68. This car is documented for day one to present with pictures of the day Tom picked the Barracuda up at Hurst (working on getting that one). Tony Has talked to almost every who's owner of the Barracuda. Tom says the barracuda is number 7 but other say different. Tom picked the car up at Hurst with is friend Arlen Vanke, Who actually order the Barracuda for Tom (with Pete Nyl Chrysler Plymouth dealer number). Tom said when he walked in to Hurst and ask I am here to pick up my car. They told him to go out and pick one out. He had the choice of 7 I believe. All of them had no hoods on them, the hood had to be shipped to him. (Blue fiberglas fenders) He said the placed was in disarray. The rest is history.

The BO29 Barracuda has bin through a lot over the years but never out of touch. The car has all its original panels, and never crashed. Yes, it has the original body numbers and the original fender Tag, Title and paper work. The Car has bin tube and cage so all that has to go. The car needing the floors and rear frame rails. So Tony started hunt looking for a rust free 68 Barracuda. He only wanted a 68 so everything is correct with all numbers on the sheet metal panels to match 68 Barracuda. Tony found a 68 Barracuda in Arizona. Now the cutting begins.
Going to start with some pictures of the car throughout the history of it.
have the cage cut out tonight
