I have bean surcharging for a voltage regulator for my 71 but don't know what best on line, i have electronic ing now no points now.thanks again.

I assume you are talking about the voltage regulator that keeps the charging voltage to the battery in the 13 to 14 volt range.

This is the earlier single wire field (non isolated field) voltage regulator

This is the later electronic voltage regulator 2 Field wires (isolated field)

Which do you have now?

electronic vs point ignition system is irrelevant to the voltage regulator

Then most any year/car specific auto parts store one will do. You could look for NOS and pay a premium but with the ease of replacement and the cheap price buy 2 at the parts store and keep one in the trunk as a spare.

Interesting...
I would bet that the "high" performance unit has more filters to reduce the chance of a rouge ignition firing from noise it might produce.

Or it was a way to sell a more expensive VR to hot rodders.

I would love to see a stock and higher end unit opened up side by side.

Lol, I installed the 732 VR on my '69 when I converted to elec. ign. way back. Seems to work just F & D even with a standard coil / ballast. I kinda' like the color too!:D

Not sure where they get them from but National Mo-Parts in Beaverton, Ontario sells the fancy blue one and a correct looking black one for decent prices, yes, Canadian Dollar prices shown.

The black one does not have the 70/71 dimple and the date code may not be exact for your car but if you're worried about those details you probably would have mentioned it.
