Yea! Not a Ford guy but can appreciate this guys love for the sport and his experience. Thank you for sharing. Video is worth watching. This guy wins most races on experience alone.

We used to attend an all makes cruise in in Macon many years ago when I had my 65 Valiant with the hot 360. Had it at the local traditional family run barbeque joint, Finchers. BIG cruise in. Always several hundred cars. There was this one older gentleman, he actually OWNED the city of Tombsboro, Georgia. Now, I actually have a friend who owns it.....but that's another story. Anyway, the guy who used to own the town, always brought his car to the cruise in on a trailer. I think Tombsboro is on the order of 100 or so miles from Macon. Anyway, his car just happened to be an all numbers matching original 1963 Ford Galaxie Lightweight R Code with the 427 High Riser engine. He'd trailer down the street about a half mile, unload it and DRIVE it down the street. Now, if you know a THING about these cars, then you know how damned badass that was. It was an awesome spectacle. You could FEEL the car turn in the parkin lot. It was one bad beeotch.

Good thing I'm a car guy. I like Mopar's of course but I like em' all.

I had lots of Mopars but both of these in the mid 70s also:
65 Falcon Futura 289, 4speed, 8.75 w/4.10, frame rails moved, tubbed, Chrysler Super Stock springs, pinion snubber. Most unbelievable power from a tiny engine. Could change gears on the street at 8000 rpm
67 Camaro SS/RS 302 w/ Chrysler aluminum case white stripe ratio 4 speed Dana 60 7.17 ratio for 1/8 mile so another 8000 rpm plus car.

Very cool, the guy he was racing in the red Thunderbolt Kurt Neighbors lives about 5 miles up the road from me. back in the 90's he was running a alcohol funny car with a 429, I don't remember but I don't think he did well with the car.

The Falcon makes my little pecker get hard.

Here`s a question for all the older guys 70s +.
I`ve searched and can`t find any conclusive answer.
I`ve considered the teardrop scoops to be seen first on the thunderbolts as really an extractor. Talking to rodders 10 yrs my senior say they were real popular and was seen on everything back in the day.
I`ll still say they are/were a Ford scoop.
What say you?

I remember seeing them on early 60's 348/409 Chevys but who knows when they were installed.

i like them all but the one that started it all may be my all time favourite. Always planned
on building one but it hasn't happened yet.

Mid 60's I remember seeing a '55 Chevy with a teardrop cruisin the strip in Easton, Pa.

Almost all 60’s cars were sweet, but I like the mopars the best.

Awesome car and video, thanks for posting!
I love all of the cars running the stock or super stock class.
I noticed that there wasn't any discussion about the cam he's running in the car, I bet that it's one of his ''speed secrets''.

I always liked the teardrop scoop, but the only "factory" cars I saw them on were Fords. A good friend's step father had one of those Super Stock fiberglass Ford Galaxys. It was not a looks only car, it was totally serious. It was their daily driver, 4 speed and all. I loved watching his 110 lb mother drive it, and I mean she could really drive it. My brother had a 65 Mustang coupe that we converted the 289 into a "K" motor. We swapped a 9 in rear with 3.90 gears, so the biggest problem we had was with getting a C-4 trans to live behind it. No problem with old Fords here...
