does anyone know if any of these Chinese tabletop style 5-12 speed drill presses use a Jacobs or Morse taper spindle? I see small 3 jaw chucks in M1, M2 and would like to invest in one if they could work. To spin a 1.00" piece

How ya doin', Pishta? I have the HF 12-speed floor-standing so-called "production" drill press, which uses the Morse MT-4 taper. My guess is that the tabletop models would use the same taper on their arbors, but if you download the HF instruction manual for the drill press in question, it should tell you the taper of the arbor under "specifications". The arbor on an HF chuck is shorter than some others, in order to let you drive the chuck out with the steel wedge that they supply. I bought an aftermarket small chuck for my drill, which works fine, but the arbor is too long and I'm going to have to cut it off shorter in order to be able to drive it out.

I have the table top version i don't know all technical specs but if it helps I can take some pictures and send them to you.

Both... The spindle will accept a Morse taper & the chuck will have a Jacobs taper..
