As long as you have the winter to freeze the lake to make it easy to move materials for building. The rest of it you haul by boat

heck yeah, ice road truckers!

i hadnt even thought that far, in my mind, the cabin was build already and i just had to shuttle kids food and fuel across the pond

When I was a kid my dad and uncles built a huge house boat that never left the lake. Built it on site kinda and drove a model a ford chassis into it for propulsion. It was like an island. I remember sitting down to eat at the table with alot of people. It burned down.

sounds like your dad and my grandpa were a lot alike

if i remember correctly, my grandpa build the house i would eventually be born in back in 1953, brick by brick from the ground up

somewhere around 1957 he got hos masons license

its a real shame that boat burned down
sound like it left you with some great childhood memories though

I like your dad and uncles sound's like they had a good time.

My grandpa was a Mason too. Still see his work around town. They also built an air sled. Dad said it would literally fly running it off of a good hill. Got a pic somewhere.
Post the pictures if you find them please.....

Lived in a cabin in the mountains with no electricity with 5 kids for 5 years and have no regrets.
Know what you mean I have a real hard time leaving the bush. You know quiet, no traffic, no hassles, no phone no pool no pets. Sit down for 30 minutes be quiet read a book the bush becomes alive around you, one of the most amazing things I have ever witnessed

If you go to a place where the repair small planes you could probably buy a time x prop and a drive for a vw.
As a kid had a neighbor that did that.
Have a good time in the wild north country and hope ya get not only your Moose but more so some peace and Quite.

Hope the storm goes easy on ya Mark.
Glad the Cuda is back on the road and time to take it on a nice run before winter.
Thanks Fred... a lot of rain expected with thunder and lightning. I'm sure some old trees will be down and take the hydro out on several places and damage property.
Been thinking of a long drive somewhere if I can get the misses out of the garden long enough...lol

Nice day here in winterpeg manisnowba off to snow lake tomorrow for 7 days of fly out moose hunting. Camp is on an island. Got to practice my sexyest moose call. Here moose here moose. 600 miles to sleep in a tent in the middle of nowhere. Only communication is with our satellite phone. Must be either crazy or stupid but I know it will be fun.
Sounds like a great time with your buddies, not for me though. Not into hunting, fishing etc. I buy my meat at the store LOL Good hunting though Murray and don't come back empty handed.

It's been raining all day but so far no heavy rain or Thunder and Lightning.
So so far so good but the day isn't over yet.
Wife made some egg rolls today and had them for lunch and burnt my mouth on them but were they ever good. Now the rest is in the freezer waiting to be devoured at a different date. Also making easy cabbage rolls. You don't roll these just layer them in the pan and so good as well. More stuff for the freezer. Going to have to throw a couple of Gaviscon into the freezer as it's jammed full.

How's the new addition working out Fred? Did they name her yet? Wow you've had quite the year. Better get retrained on diaper duty lol

Been nice here I took the Scamp out on a nice 100 mile cruise and had a good time. Hit the gas a few times and berried the speedometer. I sure love my car it handles real nice and sounds much better than the old man driving it.

She has a name I just don't remember it and not because I'm old and senile I just have to many to keep up with.
No diaper duty for me so far and plan on keeping it that way.
Speaking of senile what were we talking about????

We were talking about bears. I shoveled 12 piles of scat out of me and my not at home neighbors yard this morning. Cleaned up all of his apples on the ground too. I think the apples aren't sweet enough for the bears. YET. We usually wait for a good freeze before we pick them.

Picked my apples a week ago because of all the critters eating half of them. Got a good bunch for a small tree and taste great.

You're only as old as you feel. Now quit feeling yourself and wash your hands.
